the fisheries tell you otherwise.

Ehh this is an attempt to "prove the negative", the fishery may be even better without the irritation to the spawning fish but we'll never know.

I don't really want to die on this hill because i know there's dozens more tournaments that do the same thing but we don't ever notice and the last thing I want is more government intervention here. I think it's fine the way it is but it just slightly irritates me that we still do this at the top series. I guess the counterpoint to this is BASS has probably contributed more to conservation than any other similar group.

It’s been well proven many times over that rod and reel fishing doesn’t have a negative impact on fish populations . Trust me I’ve had to read hundreds of extremely boring studies on it, most show wise harvest improves population dynamics

now throw in nets and you might have a case, although the only lake in my area that allows commercial nets in chickamauga and it has the biggest bass

I wonder if that graph is even on, or if he has it in "stand-by" mode.

Bad Dad joke, I know.

It kills me :( MLF C&R for the win for me.

Likewise.  I'm not a fan of catching bass off spawning beds

I purposefully throw farther out from the bank if I see fish on beds, or stay away from them if in the kayak.

However, I know tons that keep bass caught off beds during spawn.

I think I heard them say that santee has now kicked out a 4 day total over the century mark more frequently than all other stops, including clear lake, CA and amistead and falcon in TX

I thought I read only Falcon lake has produced more century marks? Can’t seem to find the article now

Edit:

I found the article, this was published prior to the start of the tournament.

Falcon Lake leads the B.A.S.S. Century Club list with 15 entries, with all 12 finalists in 2008 and three in 2013. Clear Lake is next on the list with seven from 2007. Lake Amistad, Santee Cooper and Lake Fork are tied with six entries, Guntersville has five and Okeechobee and Kissimmee have one each”

Only 2 made the century club this year so that puts Santee at 8

Still have 4 more to catch Falcon

Think Caleb Kuphall will be haunted by only weighing 4 fish for 13 pounds day 2?

He did a good interview yesterday on Bass U Live 3/22 on YT. Apparently they've recently taped a seminar where he's demonstrating the same tactics he used to win at Santee. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the vid here, but his segment begins at the 17 minute mark.

Question…I seen a Angler on Santee mix up some orange powder with lake water into a large pump water cannon and shoot it out 10 to 15 foot out into water?  I’m new watching the Pro’s fish but was he feeding the fish?

They’ve done that for quite a while during spawning events. It’s usually dish soap, that they spray onto the surface to dissipate the pollen ( also happens to be everywhere during spawning season), so they can see through the water to see where their bait is sitting.
Doesn’t  seem like something that’s all that great for the water ( pouring dish soap everywhere), and not something I’d ever do, but I guess it’s better than a lot of other things that get poured in the lakes all the time.

Well now that you mentioned soap it might have looked like Dawn bottle, I said orange but second thought it could have been blue in color.  He (angler) had the water cannon for the occasion…..making Tang and making $$$$
