Super User jbsoonerfan Posted March 16, 2022 Super User Posted March 16, 2022 Now that it has passed in Congress, I hope it passes in the House and gets signed by the President. I know this is a sore subject for some people but it will give the working class a little bit longer to hunt/fish in the evenings from Nov - March. There are a lot of days in Nov and Dec that I can't make it to the deer stand in time, but an extra hour sure would come in handy. An extra hour in Feb and March might get me on the lake as well. 8 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 16, 2022 Global Moderator Posted March 16, 2022 I just think it's stupid we change the clocks around twice a year. I like my extra time in the afternoon and not having to wake up quite as early to be at the lake at first like though. 3 Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 16, 2022 Super User Posted March 16, 2022 I hope we get DLS, I hate having to change all the clocks in our house for one thing, I like the extended sunlight also. 1 Quote

Super User Bird Posted March 16, 2022 Super User Posted March 16, 2022 Was one of those who despised showing up late for work but seemed like every year that one day " fall back " would get me. Yes, wish we could set it and forget it. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted March 16, 2022 Super User Posted March 16, 2022 With all the studies out there showing that the time change affects worker production for upwards of a week after, setting down to a single time without the change is good for everyone. Myself - I have to run around changing 7 clocks in the house, then remember to change the one in the truck...gets old really fast. 2 1 Quote
Jmilburn76 Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Im not a fan of it, seems like as soon as my body and sleeping pattern gets used to it we change it again. 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted March 16, 2022 Super User Posted March 16, 2022 The disadvantage to always operating by DST is that in the winter, sunrise does not occur until almost 9am here. The advantage to operating under DST year round is that there is always an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day. There are pros and cons of both. 6 Quote

throttleplate Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 i lived in alaska for a year, it didnt take long for me to realize why the baseball fields didnt have lights. The winter, dark at 3.30pm, light in the morning was 10 am. In the philippines always dark at 6.30 pm, i just hated that. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted March 17, 2022 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2022 I’m perfectly fine with it getting dark here at 5 in the winter because there’s nothing to do here that time of the year. I prefer getting up early in the morning to go fishing during open water season. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 17, 2022 Super User Posted March 17, 2022 I would much rather have the extra time in the evening. That being said… I dont have any problem adjusting to springing forward an hour though. I just go to bed an hour earlier that night …??♂️ Quote

Super User Tennessee Boy Posted March 17, 2022 Super User Posted March 17, 2022 People who work regular hours get one extra hour of fishing after work during the warmer months and get one less hour of fishing after work in the cooler months. I don’t see why anyone would be opposed to that. I find it interesting that congress is doing this in the spring when everyone is losing a hour instead of in the fall when everyone gains an hour. Those are just my thoughts. I plan on retiring soon so I’m pulling my dog out of this fight. ? 1 Quote

There is a fair amount of people that start fishing in the morning and in the "winter" months, the sun will not be coming up until almost 9am. Some people (not you) seem to think that we'll be completely losing an hour of daylight if we change this. We won't. We're simply considering altering the time schedule so that its the same all year round. We can't control the angle of the sun in the winter. The amount of daylight we receive is always the same. Really, it boils down to this: would you rather have an extra hour of daylight from early November to early March in the morning or the evening? The rest of the year is a moot point. They aren't considering changing the rest of the year to non-DST. That will stay whether they change the winter months to full DST or not. This personally has no affect on me as an angler. I don't do any fishing between early November and March anyways. It will affect my hunting season in Nov and Dec, that's it. 2 Quote

Me either newriver... Beginning of winter I'm driving to work in the dark and driving home in the dark. Who cares. If you do work outside, I certainly would rather have daylight around 6 or 7 AM. The Bassman Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 I like to tell people that DST keeps the sun up an hour longer so I have to mow more often. 1 Quote

I don't think it really causes anyone that much trouble, it's just dumb. I don't care which one they pick but pick one and stick with it. Quote
