Ya, there's no excuse for it.  They've had weeks to prepare that surface and turn it into pristine playing shape, and failed.  If I'm not mistaken, its a roll out field.  They literally roll it out into the desert sun, during the day and then roll it inside prior to the game.  I know that players much prefer the feel of natural grass rather than turf.  I am pretty sure Las Vegas has the same type of field where they roll it outside into the desert sun.

Yea and they have 2 they can choose from to roll in. I think I’d retire that method effective immediately

Ridiculous!  The NFL has more money than God. Laying turf can't be that difficult when

the cost doesn't matter.

Maybe the groundskeeper was mad that they made him paint that stupid looking SB logo on the field...and said, "I'll show them!"

In any sport, with a grass field, you never know what you are going to get. If you, your team, and your equipment folks don't understand that and how to minimize it's effects on your performance as well as maximize exploiting your opponent's, then you aren't doing it right. That being said, that field was better suited to a hockey game, folks were sliding all over the place.

Really, cause I can think of at least 5 ways of doing it. My favorite is a certain number of points for the defense + the ball, similar to a safety. You can make the rules anything you want, no? What am I missing.  Roller Ball!, Roller Ball!...

Really..

And of course a rule change would stop it.

But if you give a certain number of points and possession in lieu of running out the clock to give the opponent less time work with, wouldn’t that negate the opportunity to score which you would have to do anyway to win?

Or maybe I just don’t understand which is entirely possible

This ain't rocket science, there are hundreds of sport complexes around

the country that have perfect fields.

No, like most other rules, it would make it (situationally) more or less likely, otherwise the yellow flags would be unnecessary.

The NFL’s head groundskeeper, “The Sodfather” who’s worked on every Super Bowl field said in a interview this past Sunday’s field featured the NFL’s latest and greatest turf blend and the second best field he’s ever worked on for a Super Bowl game. Judging by the number of players who were loosing their footing and the need to change cleets during the game left much to be desired for the league’s premier game.

*the interview of the “Sodfather” was regarding his retirement after the Super Bowl

Not sure what the solution is on these playing surfaces.  They conducted a league-wide poll this past season and its very obvious that the players much prefer natural grass instead of artificial turf.  You can't grow grass inside and you can't really grow it in a cold climate during the "winter."  So the NFL has decided that roll in/out natural grass is the solution in some of these stadiums.  But as we saw last night, that didn't work very well either.

I know that the next World Cup is being played in North America (Mexico, USA, and Canada) and any stadium that hosts a match is required to have natural grass.  Some of these stadiums currently have artificial turf so before the next World Cup they will need to figure out a way to put real grass in.

@J._Bricker I had never heard the term Sodfather.  Lol that's pretty good.

The grass there in Phoenix is grown outside, and they roll the entire thing in mechanically for the game, just FYI. The grass for this game was some sort of Bermuda hybrid that if you ask me just didn’t measure up….

Booing Dak was pretty classy.

Coach Reid played the end perfectly. But, I do wish the rules were such that there'd be disincentive to flopping short of the goal line near the end.  Not at all sure what could be changed, but the last couple minutes were as disappointing to me as an NBA game with nothing but free throws for last minute of a game.

I only sort of half-watched the game, but it seemed like some horrid secondary play all game.  Seemed like every dropback there was someone in the secondary that was totally lost.

NFL should be totally embarrassed by the condition of that field.  That had direct affect on plays... and the outcome... more so than any blown call/ non-call

What is wrong with booing a rival QB?  it is only a story becasue it was Dak and the Eagles were in the Super Bowl.

Reid did what I figured he would do, may have even posted it up here, used short quick passes and screens to neutralize the pass rush of the eagles.  He also called the perfect game on the biggest stage.

Eagles still had a shot to win and that holding penalty at the end was legit and wasn't the reason they lost.  Letting gimpy Mahomes run for 25 was even bigger and is what sealed the loss.

I was hoping the Eagles D would come up big but I also know Reid is a top 3-5 coach probably all time.

I am looking forward to the Eagles in the upcoming seasons as they have a lot of young talent and gained a ton of experience this postseason.  Also nice to have two first round picks including #10

Yes, I knew that.  They do the same thing in Vegas, which is, ironically, where the Super Bowl is next February.  Sodfather 2.0

I don't think it should be 'a story'.  But if you ask what is wrong with booing the awarding of a player with the Walter Payton award....you might be a Philly fan.

50+ years is a hella of a run, a new guy gets to be the NFL’s head groundskeeper.  @gimruis, Allegiant Stadium has both natural and artificial turf. It’ll be interesting to see which one they use for next years Super Bowl

Maybe Vegas can "Borrow" Travis Hogan next year.

 https://sodsolutionspro.com/case-study/arrowhead-stadium/

Not sure that would work.  Kansas City, MO has a completely different climate than Las Vegas.  KC is in the Midwest and Vegas is a desert climate.  Arrowhead is an outdoor field and Allegiant is completely indoors.  Comparing apples to oranges here.

here is where the simple minds don't get it...they weren't booing his accomplishments they were booing him as the QB.  Why he was on the field doesn't even matter.  It will probably be the only way he gets on a Super Bowl field anyways so you gotta take your opportunities to boo him

Well, I have been a "closet Cowboy fan" for decades, but I recognize how easy

they are to hate. On the other hand, next year is "Their year" as it has been for

the last twenty-seven years!

Odds as of this morning to win the 2024 Super Bowl:

Chiefs 5-1
Bills 6-1
49ers 7-1
Eagles 9-1
Bengals 10-1
Cowboys 12-1

Every other team is at least 25-1

Texans are the worst at 125-1

IMO these were the top 3 teams in each conference this past season, so its not a big surprise to see them with the best odds for next season.

I remember a world series interview with Steve Garvey back in the 70's.

He was asked which he preferred, grass or astroturf.

He said he's not sure because he's never smoked astroturf........Vin Scully lost it.

Longing for the days of funny SB commercials....  I still watch each one...habit...hope...I don't know...but result is mostly disappointment.   Although, I do commend the one that made me (and probably many others) look around to make sure I wasn't sitting on the remote.  Not so good that I remember what the service or product was, but a pretty good prank nonetheless
