Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2023 Super User Posted January 23, 2023 So i guess the fix wasn't in like many thought....I have never seen anyone miss this many extra points in a season let alone in two consecutive games. Dude needs to be fired Quote

Masaccio Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Nope. Not a joke. Although I’ll say that I don’t know his record. My impression is that he had been stellar until this sudden and spectacular failure. These guys are trotted out in moments of extremely high pressure. There is no hiding in the corps. If there is no room in the sport for being human, then it ceases to be sport. Laugh if you want. 16 minutes ago, flyfisher said: I hope this is a joke.....kicking a football is now an art? Super User BrianMDTX Posted January 23, 2023 Super User Posted January 23, 2023 At least this is a game! 49ers look to be about the score to start the 4th quarter but through 3 quarters it’s knotted up 9-9. Been some hard hits and splash plays but both defenses have clamped down when called upon. Quote

If i was paid to do that job and performed like that I would expect to be fired. You are paid to be at the highest level and perform at that level, plain and simple. Extra points are hardly high pressure especially when you are in the midst of a blowout, in fact it was about as little pressure as you could probably face as a kicker. Dude finally made one but it had to be even shorter than an extra point. Quote

And it’s a game. Games are valuable lesson tools. Do try to get over yourself. 7 minutes ago, deaknh03 said: He just needs a hug and a trophy. We aren't talking about pop Warner here, we are talking about the highest level of the sport. You perform or you go home, period. Eagles had a kicker, David Akers, who missed 2 FG in a playoff game that they lost by 5 and this was right after he found out his young daughter had cancer. Coach said yeah those points would have helped and you knwo what Akers said, i should have made them and coach was right. He didn't make excuses he owned it and moved on. Coaching and talent just good enough to give their fans hope but they suck at the little things that win important games 1 Quote

He also has a no trade and no tag clause so they are pretty much stuck with him or have to deal with the cap hit. They have 60+M tied up in him and Elliot....that is like a quarter of the cap. Jerry may know how to make money and get fans to think they will be good but he sure can't manage the money in the cap era which is why they have done nothing since they added it in. 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted January 23, 2023 Super User Posted January 23, 2023 Brett Maher was a top 5 kicker this past season. Ya, he missed some extra points this post season but his body of work this season as a whole puts him ahead of about 25 other kickers. Its pretty difficult to go anywhere as a wild card team. All your games are on the road. Dallas went 12-5 this season and won a playoff game. Still better than 22 other teams in the league. Last season was a bigger failure for them as a home seed losing to…the Niners. There’s no shame in losing this time around. They hung in there and lost a one possession game. The Bills loss was much worse today than the Cowboys. Yet no one is poo pooing on them. Quote

That’s good money for gaining 30 yds a game………. Heck he may have not gotten that many 1 Quote

I used to work for a top tier nationwide construction company in Chicago, one of my co-workers had a saying, “if you don’t produce you’ll get cut loose”. I know he didn’t come up with the phrase but I seen more than a few guys get cut from quite a few crews for this exact saying. 1 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2023 Super User Posted January 23, 2023 Bills came out super flat, not sure what happened. I figured they would get it together but I was wrong on that one. Cowboys were trash and exposed for what they are, regular season stats and choke when the lights get bright. Dak was doing dak things and throwing picks and got lucky to not have a pick 6 to end the game. Gonan be a good one next week but I don't see the 49ers having enough to beat the eagles. They haven't faced an O line or D line like we have and Purdy will live up to his name of being Mr. Irrelevant, 1 Quote
