Super User gim Posted January 8, 2023 Super User Posted January 8, 2023 I can’t believe the freaking Steelers were in contention for that final playoff spot until Miami scored with 18 seconds left. The 7 seed in the NFL playoffs has been a joke since they decided to expand the field. Go back to 6 teams per conference and give the top 2 seeds a bye. 3 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Super happy with the Bills win, but concerned with our 1st half performance. Granted the opening kickoff return was electric, and the second return from Hines. But plenty to be concerned about, still, heading into the post season. Wish Hyde and Miller were back. Bring on the Phins! Squish the Aquatic Mammals! Man that sounds awful. Just Squish the Fish! GO BILLS! 1 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Took a few weeks longer than expected but I am ok with that. Time to get healthy and prepare for the divsional round. Cowboys look like garbage out there today...I fully expected them to blow the commanders out starting a true rookie late round pick under center. Quote
Super User gim Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 @12poundbass the kitties have been eliminated courtesy of the Seahawks win over the Rams in OT. Now the Seahawks need the Lions to restore the roar in Green Bay tonight. Eliminate a team, and then ask for their help. Ironic. 1 Quote

The Seahawks beating the Rams gives the Lions the 6th pick next year. Had the Rams won, the Lions would’ve gotten the 7th, so the least the Lions can do is return the favor. Although, I’m sure the Lions would much rather be in the playoffs, but they had a better season than most had anticipated, and really turned it around the second half of the season. There’s always next year. Quote

They asked head coach Dan Campbell before the game if he knew the Seahawks had already won and he said “We may not make the playoffs, but they’re not.” (Referring the the Packers) They has 3 wins last season, so finishing with 8 or 9 is clearly an improvement. Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 9, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 9, 2023 What a game! The Lions sure do have heart. Too bad they couldn’t play one more game. 2 Quote
Super User Bird Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Rodgers has struggled his entire storied career in big games, surprising. Dak is another one. Superbowl pick. Bills 31 SF 24 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted January 9, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 9, 2023 Well… For a nutty Bears fan, other than watching Fields grow, this year was like a knife in the heart But….If we couldn’t do anything this year it really couldn’t have been set up better for the next and beyond. The first overall pick for the 1st time in 76 yrs and over 120 mil in cap space! Almost twice as much as the next team. Plus, on top of all that the “team from Wisconsin lost”!!! And alls right with the world SF 27 Buff 17 Mike 2 Quote

I would trade away the first overall pick for a load of other draft picks, and then sign some free agents with the cap space. They could easily go from 3 wins to 8 or 9 wins next season. As for the Lions, they played with grit and heart last night. They very likely already knew their season would not be continuing, but they played like that didn't matter. The sole idea of eliminating a division rival was more than enough. I personally think they are a better team than Seattle, and would fare better at the 49ers next week too. My pick: Chiefs over 49ers in the Super Bowl 2 Quote

Give up #1 and a later round, Drop down a few spots in the first, get a 2nd, 4th and 1st and 3rd next year. Plus depending on who, get a #1 WR and and starting DL as a bonus to sweeten. I wouldn’t have a problem overpaying for a few young front line players in free agency either. No team had ever had this much cap room and the first pick. Thier first time GM better know what he’s doin!! Any time “that team from Wisconsin” loses is a good day regardless of anything else! This year I’m glad it was Detroit. Given they lucked out with LA tanking and now getting a top 10 pick, I don’t think anyone will look past them next year Mike 1 Quote

The two matchups that are most likely to be competitive and/or result in an upset are Chargers/Jags and Giants/Vikings, IMO. I've already stated my case for the Vikings being the worst 13-4 team in NFL history by almost every measurable metric. The point spreads given by Vegas sport books bear this out too, as the Chargers are favored by 1.5 and the Vikings are favored by 2.5 points. I guess you never know which Cowboys or Bucs team will show up either on MNF. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 10, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 10, 2023 I don't know why the team that went to the Super Bowl last year, looked like they were in control of the game before the Hamlin injury, is 3 and 0 versus the Chiefs, can't get any respect? Global Moderator Mike L Posted January 10, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 10, 2023 Most everyone has already anointed Buffalo king in the AFC right behind KC and it seems to me it started well before what happened to Hamlin. KC gets a lot of play and respect, most of it is warranted but certainly not all. Cinn is more than capable of winning it all until they get SF in the SB if they make it that far, which would not surprise me. Just don’t think they have enough. Mike Quote

Quarterbacks are always in the discussion for the top pick, but the Bears have Justin Fields heading into his third season. That made the team’s commitment to Fields one of the topics of conversation. Poles said the team will evaluate the entire draft class and that Fields needs to improve as a passer, but that he’s “excited” about the direction Fields is headed and that he will have to be “absolutely blown away” in order to use the pick on a quarterback. 2 Quote

Well the Cowboys are favored and Dak struggles in the post season. Oh and the fact that Brady hasn't lost to the cowboys in his entire storied career. That's if you'd deem a Tampa win here as an upset. 1 Quote
