ErieCan Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 I have two of the SV TW103 reels and love them, but I'm wondering if the Elite PF (pitch and flip) is worth the extra cash? It's going to replace the lower end Fuego I currently have on my heavy cover setup. I pitch pads, mats, reeds, and deeper secluded grass beds. If anyone has used the Elite PF, let me know your thoughts. Quote
TNBankFishing Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Great reel. Aluminum frame and side plates and fantastic pitching reel. The only Daiwa I’ve kept. 2 Quote
Big Rick Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 I love mine. I have several Tatula's in differing styles and definitely get more enjoyment jig and frog fishing with the Elite pitching reel. The larger handle is a definite plus. It also skips very well. I've had it 3 seasons and caught a lot of fish with it. 2 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted March 14, 2022 Super User Posted March 14, 2022 I’m a big fan of the Elite models period. 3 Quote
EWREX Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 the larger handle alone makes the PF reel great. having more leverage with the handle helps significantly when trying to get bass out of heavier cover instead of pulling with the rod. 2 Quote

I took the Winn grip handle from my Lexa 300 and put it on the Fuego. Made a big difference in power. Made the balance of the reel way off though. Lol. Quote
TcRoc Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Have 3 or 4 SV TW103‘s . Have 1 of the Elite P/F’s . Like it just as much as the 103’s . To edit think for sure you would find a rod you prefer it with over the 103 once you have it. 1 Quote
inferiorfisherman Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I also own both. I use the elite P/F on my xtra heavy rod. the large handle give you a ton of leverage and the build feels more solid than the SV 103. However, it is quite a bit larger than the sv103 in hand. I have small hands and like to palm reel and the elite P/F isn't nearly as comfortable in hand as the sv 103. The other difference in performance I see is how the brakes work. I consider the sv 103 to be overbraked and much harder to backlash. although the elite p/f has brakes tuned for pitching they aren't as aggressive as the sv103. so, I find the elite to be easier to backlash and a little less forgiving, but I can pitch quite a bit further with the elite p/f. like a lot further with the same effort and same rod. if you are an experienced pitcher with decent size hands I would say the Elite for sure. if you are new to pitching, and have small mitts then I would recommend the SV. 1 Quote
ErieCan Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Thanks for the replys everyone. I ordered the Elite PF and it should get here Friday. Our season doesn't open until June, but I figured you never know how product supply will be this year. Quote

They don't let us fish em pre-spawn or during spawn. Plenty of pike, walleye, and perch to keep us busy so can't complain I suppose. 1 Quote

Bass opens 3rd Saturday in June in my zone up in my neck of the woods. This wait is driving me crazy but at least I have this forum to keep me occupied. 2 Quote

Canada has such good fishing though, it might be worth it. 1 Quote
