An old Nokia? LOL

I honestly don't worry too much about snakes, I'm more concerned about the hogs, generally

Big fan of snakes. Have commented before. If you're an outdoorsman

it is a good thing to know exactly what lives there. Familiarize with

the kinds of snakes, birds, insects you'll perhaps encounter. Advice

that probably a majority here already follow, but just practical.

Have encountered a number of cottonmouths while fishing, some

very aggressive, but they're belligerent snakes in general. Have caught

a bunch of snakes while fishing. We're a snake family, so they're part

of our family fabric, LOL. Eldest son has taken over and has about

19 snakes, getting into breeding ball pythons.

Pic attached was a really big and feisty cottonmouth at local Harwood's

Mill Reservoir when I was long-pole dock fishing with one of my boys.

Back in 2010, taken with a Palm Pre...fun phone. Pic doesn't do size

justice. Ended up having to use the butt end of my long pole to lift

him and move him to other side of dock to get out of our way.

We do not have enough pythons being tossed into the road sides each year ?   If you sterilized them fine.

Unfortunately, those are Burmese pythons, you see

all over Florida. Ball Pythons are very different and

do not grow to the size of a Burmese.

One of the best snakes you could own as a pet, and

the genetic morphs can generate big $$. Me holding

one of my son's morphs, a Piebald Ball Python.

And just to show how crazy we get when we see a snake while

fishing, my youngest (11 in this pic) saw a large black rat snake

on a dock and had me motor over so he could jump out and

catch it :D. Was at Little Creek Reservoir in Toano, VA. And yes,

all my sons are quite well versed in snakes and know venomous

vs. non, especially in our locality :) .

About twenty years ago, my wife called me out into the yard of our home in Central Florida to look at a large snake that was crawling across our driveway.  Some furniture delivery guys were trying to back down the driveway when they saw this snake blocking their truck.  The snake was a huge emerald tree Boa.  The area where we live has a lot of woods and we suspected the snake was an escaped pet.  We never saw that snake again.  What commonly happens is a pet grows too large for the home and it escapes or is released. In Miami a gigantic python was caught that made it onto the Johnny Carson show.  For years, cats and dog kept disappearing from the neighborhood until someone found the snake. Near Orlando, a baby was killed by a pet Burmese Python.   Why anyone wants a snake for a pet is beyond me?  Get a dog or a cat.

Don't think I'd carry a garden tool out onto a golf course, the owner might not look too kindly to it.

Heck there's a rake in every sand trap already, no need to bring one! Boots and thick pants might help.
