sarcazmo Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Has anyone built and fished with a new Eternity RX10? I have the 74 heavy and 72mh waiting to be built. The previous 72mH is one of my fav blanks. And to get a heavy power with pretty high modulus... Pretty cool. The butt is THICK! Quote
Super User MickD Posted March 10, 2022 Super User Posted March 10, 2022 I have built and fished one, the 7-2 Spin M X-F. It is a fine rod, I use it for smallmouth finesse fishing. Yes, thick butt, looks like the proportions of Point Blanks. I recommend really light guides for the tip to keep it fast-guides like the Fuji titaniums. I built mine with titanium KLH 16-8-5.5m then KB/KT 4's to the end. Works fine with 15 pound braid/15 pound leader, improved Alberto knot. Quote
Huckfinn38 Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 Prior to Spring I built 2 of the casting ETEC2MH-SS, 2 of the casting ETEC72M-SS, 1 casting ETES72M-SS, and 1 spinning ETES72M-SS. I love the feel of the rods. They are light and ultra sensitive. Both the ETEC2MH-SS and the ETEC72M-SS have plenty of backbone. I will say that I have had 2 of the ETEC72M-SS break on me. One could have possibly been my fault and the other one was not my fault. Due to these blanks being high modulus, light, and stiff, they are more susceptible to breakage. FYI I have never broke one of their Immortal Series blanks or the old XP blanks. Quote
Super User MickD Posted August 29, 2022 Super User Posted August 29, 2022 I respectfully suggest that with one maybe and one not your fault, there might not be enough data to prove that they are "more susceptible to breakage." More susceptible than what? I agree the RX10 is a nice series of blanks. I have the spin one you speak of and it's one of my favorites. One thing nice about the RX10 series is that Rainshadow published CCS data on them. Everyone familiar with my preaching knows how strongly I feel that we need to be talking objective rod descriptions as much as we can. I still believe based on my True Natural Frequency testing that the Point Blanks are the most sensitive blanks. They have higher TNF's. I also wrapped one (731MXF) around my trolling motor shaft and was amazed that it survived, still going strong after two years. A couple bent guides, but the blank survived. So with the more modern hi mod blanks, they may not be that fragile. Quote
