I use 40lb PowerPro and it holds about 80 yards or so. If for some reason you need more than that, use PP Maxcuatro. Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted March 13, 2022 Super User Posted March 13, 2022 For years I've frog fished with a Revo AL - F 8:0.1, it's 5.5 ounces, has 17 lbs of drag and holds enough Daiwa J braid 50 lb test that even on a long cast it's nowhere near empty. It's been replaced with the AL - X. I'm not claiming it's the best but it's light and has yet to fail me. 1 Quote

Dumbbassanglr Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Yeah it’s hard to beat a curado 150mgl. I fish mostly metaniums and this reel has really impressed me. Quote

There's a scorpion forsale online, used so I'm just wondering aside from colour I thought the Scorpion had the MGL spool which was the only difference. But now that they made one for our market why bother with the JDM version? Quote

The current Scorpion utilizes the Curado 200k platform but with a 150 size spool capacity. It also weighs over an ounce more than the Curado. They are both amazing reels and both excel at long range casting. I have both but much prefer the looks and smoother feel of the Scorpion. Quote

I actually don't like the colour of the scorpion, it's what's holding me back lol. I like a black reel. No colour or flashiness. It's starting to look like I'm going with a Tatula. Just because they are so available to me locally. I'm thinking the Elite. But with spring sales about to happen and used reels always being an option you never know! Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-98161861 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 Update Still in the market for this reel but I happened to check a local stores website this morning and they have a Tatula 150, on sale for 167.99 plus tax. Regular price for me on this reel is $199 plus tax. Should I jump on this one or wait? My more favorited local shop is having their annual fishing sale end of April. On a reel I'm most likely only going to save tax, and only what they have available at the time. The only thing that seems odd is in the picture it shows the 6:3 speed model but there's only the 7:3 model left R or L retrieve. The site literally does t mention any other speeds, all the models they have which is 4 or 6 are all 7:3:1 so I'm not really sure what's going on there. Quote

It’s a bit lower profile with a flatter bottom for pulling across thicker duck weed. BUT the New Bobby’s Perfect I think is gonna take its place. Still, for 6$ or so the Trophy Series is worth having in your box. What box is this? Quote
