I ordered a combo a little bit ago. Google showed a $10 price difference among different retailers. I fully intended on buying from BPS since they were $10 cheaper, but I opened another page to check to see if Sportsman's Warehouse, who was selling it for $10 more, was the same product of if I was missing some nuance that made them different. It was the same product. Still having both pages open, I accidentally ordered from SW instead of BPS without even realizing it until I got the confirmation in my email. Soooooo... Does SW ship rods with care in a tube or do they do it the DSG way and ship in a cheap, flimsy box? Should I be expecting a 2 piece?

LOL. Haven't done that, but I did, while driving home from Norfolk to DC recently on the weekend with little sleep, stop for a coffee and McMuffin early in the am, only to find out when I got home when I saw the logo on the cup, that I had purchased something similar from Dunkin Donuts next door...

It's more about the shipping carrier. If FedEx delivers the rod you have the best chance of success. If it is shipped UPS LTL which can use USPS that might be a different story. A 7ft rod doesn't fit in a older postal jeep 5 feet from front to back. This issue is why a lot of people order a one piece rod that turns into a 2 or 3 piece rod on your doorstep.

Been awhile, but SW is always the best price on Lamiglas.

They did me right on these two - no complaints with their packing, shipping, and service.

Before Japanese rockfish rods, these were the old-school distance rocketships.

I haven't ordered that late, but I have a 6'10" ML Villain spinning rod instead of the casting model I thought I was ordering.

Back when I was young, single, and not very experienced at managing my money.  I would stay up late and drink beer with the Bait Monkey.  I would look at the BPS and Cabelas catalogues just to see what they had.  Next thing I knew I would be on the phone ordering like a kid at Christmas, while the Bait Monkey danced on the couch and drank my beer.  I always thought it should be illegal to take orders over the phone that late.  The bars closed at 2:00 AM, why shouldn't BPS have to close at Midnight?  Now with the internet making it even easier, I am sure glad I have matured.  Doesn't hurt that Bait Monkey is scared of my wife.

That hasn't been my experience with FedEx. Half the time I don't even get my package with them.

I learned the hard way that not much good happens after midnight. But that’s another story. As to your shipping concerns, the culprit on damage to long packages isn’t jeeps, or anything driver related, it’s the conveyor systems used in handling facilities and they all use them. If something bad happens contact the seller and they’ll make good.

To clarify, I still have 2 packages from the NFL Shop stating that they're still sitting at a facility to go out for delivery. 2 packages at 2 different times. This was from November LMAO. Still just sitting there aka lost forever. FedEx is so bad that I just contacted NFL directly and they said they have constant problems with FedEx and resent my packages DHL and I got those within days. They said if they ever arrive that congrats I have doubles.

Wow I have had the opposite of what you have gone thru. I have had the broken rod tubes when they used the UPS  LTL. FedEx has been great for me. But with what you have gone thru I will keep a close watch on them. Hopefully you can get the rest of your stuff from them soon

4 months later I doubt it, but it's already long been corrected with NFL resending the stuff via DHL. If the 4 month old FedEx packages ever show up, those items are just bonus doubles at this point.

DVT got it, its conveyors and mishandling that does the most damage to rod tubes. If USPS can't get it on a delivery vehicle they will usually just keep it at the P.O. and deliver you a notice (that has been my experience).

I have had the worst luck with FedEx, they broke a blank and returned it themselves (I never saw the package, just the tracking info), then attempted to deliver the replacement a week later and it was obviously snapped in half. If I hadn't been at home that day they would have left the broken blank on my porch. The driver said he took it off his truck as a damaged package, but was instructed to take it and deliver it anyway. I understand crap happens and stuff gets broke, but the policy of delivering products they know THEY damaged in transit in a blatant attempt to make it my problem instead of theirs really left a bad taste in my mouth.

There’s a 3 AM?

That's when my dad got us up to drive to Tennessee every summer and Christmas.

Also when he filled this stringer on his 90th birthday.
