That and the hook keeper location. The The Essence is sort of built like the OB2 which I like, so I went with it. 15 minutes ago, GetFishorDieTryin said: I've got a couple dozen bass up to 5lbs on it and a few pickerel with one that was close to 4lb. So far it's been good, we'll see how well it handles bigger bass that arent so cold. 5-6 lbers jacked through and covered in dense weeds will tell the tale. My MHF OB2s have handled that duty flawlessly for years. We'll see how this one does. 1 Quote
Drew03cmc Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 I bought two Arks at the Redcrest Expo, a 7'4" Tharp MH B-Hittay and a 7'3" MagMH XF Lancer Pro. I really dig them both. On the B-Hittay, I have a 7.2 Megajaws Upgraded with 15# fluoro and a Speed Demon Elite Deadbolt with 15# is going on the Lancer. I like the rods so much that I ordered a 6'10" MMF Lancer Pro and Megajaws Elite 7.2 for it. 3 Quote
Abby Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 I have a pair of Megajaws for mine but not sure on what line I will run Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 @Mike L @T-Billy @DitchPanda I'm wanting to buy a 7'3 Mag MH (Money maker in the Tharp series) to keep down in Florida for my annual visit. It'll only see use a few days a year, but it'll be a rod I ask a lot from. Would you go with a Lancer, or a Tharp? Quote

I like the grip better with most reels and the guide upgrade is well worth the extra $29 to me. Good choice IMO. It's got the tip to pitch fairly light baits and the backbone to bring 'em out of heavy cover. Versatile rod. 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 18, 2022 Global Moderator Posted April 18, 2022 Agree I don’t have a Tharp model yet, but that is my next purchase. Mike 1 Quote
