Even mono of 10# and higher doesn't work well on smaller (3000 and under) spinning reels. A good quality FC, however, isn't as much of an issue. I run 8# InvisX on a President XT-30 (2500 size) and it works well...at least for me.

I like the Berkley 100 % flouro.  I use it on both my spinning rods and my deep cranking rod.  Cabelas was running a deal in April for 400 yards of it for $24.99.  I picked some 17lbs test for my deep cranking rod
