Hey guys I ordered a rod but they sent kinda a different model …on Amazon of course but it’s a Diawa Tatula Elite 7’4 Glass Crankbait /Bladed Jig rod. I thought I ordered the Big TOPWATER model…..but the reason that I ordered it is because last year I lost a lot of quality fish in tournaments on a stiffer mh graphite rod fishing for spotted bass and y’all already know how those things fight….. Reckon this rod will be a good fit for big walking baits ?? I sure hope so !! Thank you guys !

I would think it would work for any trebled baits!  Once you get the hooks into them they should stay pinned better!

Your rod will be just fine. I think it will serve well for all 3.

Big top water like a plopper or buzzbait yes, spooks not so much.

You don’t think that since this rod is labeled “ Crankbait/Chatterbait” Chatterbaits are single hooks meaning it would generally take a good backbone rod ….. I don’t know I’m just upset Amazon is a horrible place to order fishing gear from they aren’t always specific enough…

I never understood lumping in Chatterbaits with crankbaits for this very reason.

I use the same spinnerbait rod for Chatterbaits without any problems, and I'd never use that rod for crankbaits.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Yep-yep

For my rigs

Cranks - MH/M-MF

Spinners/chatters - MH/F

I like glass or composite for almost any moving bait presentation, especially bladed jigs.  I may even slap some braid on toss around the swimjig with one of my composites.  No biggie if your hooks are sharp!

Check ALL your hook points. You should not be losing so many if you have reasonable drag on the reel and keep some bend in the rod.

Typical glass rods are pretty slow, not something I'd want in a rod I'm trying to walk the dog with. I wouldn't want to fish a WTD topwater with any of my cranking rods.

Not to mention the length, both overall, and that of the handle.

Diawa designed a big TOPWATER rod 7’4 MH it has a short handle it’s designed to get bomb casts. Spinner bait/topwater. Thought that was what I ordered but they sent a glass Crankbait rod/ bladed jig I was hoping I could just use it for walking baits but I’ve already tried the Dobyns 705 cb rod for those and while some people love it for walking baits I really didn’t. Looks like I’m going to have to be patient and send the rod back and re order the right model…..ughhhh this is why I hate ordering stuff online and Diawa rods are hard to find these days.

I've ordered a few rods and reels off Amazon.  You do have to be very careful.  What is in the picture is not always what is in the box (that shows the actual item).  It is why I now have an extra 3/4 wt fly reel.
