Super User gim Posted March 4, 2022 Super User Posted March 4, 2022 The Cabela's nearest me has a lot of stock right now, at least in terms of fishing tackle. Ammo has also come back pretty good, although the cost has skyrocketed. Several of the items in that flyer I have seen on the floor and was thinking of buying. Invisix, sufix 832, rage tails, maybe even a st croix premier rod. Quote

Alot of stuff will be on sale that isnt in the flyer For what it’s worth I had my bps order an out of stock item (a panfish elite rod) that was in the sale flyer but not available in store during the “spring sale” and they honored the price without me having to pre pay if that makes sense. 1 Quote
Hutch13 Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 The Spring Classic sale pages are now live, but without the sale prices showing. For now, you can browse and see what will be on sale, you just can't see the sale price. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/spring-fishing-classic Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 I have the older black and gold Crankin Stick that I love!, but bought some of the recent gray versions hoping they would be the same, and hate them. I'd give them away to someone! Haven't tried the new black versions. To be honest, I've kind of given up on BPS/Cabelas. Seems like since they merged, quality has gone down and the only rods or reels they put on sale anymore are their own BPS lines. Everything else is always at list price or higher. We still go to the spring sales for tackle each spring, but my purchases have been more limited to lures and tackle. 1 Quote

Curious as to which rods you have (length) I agree with you on the sales side and if it wasn’t for the reel trade in I wouldn’t purchase either. Quote

The Black & Gold older model was the 7' MF. Love that one. It has the cork handle with "Power Hump" cork grips. The gray versions I have are 7' ML F, 7' MF, and 7'6" MF. Bought them on trade-in at the Spring Classic sale a couple years ago before Covid hit. Fortunately, they were on sale and then dicounted for trade-in so I think they were like $59 each,... Doesn't matter though as they are still sitting in the corner! ? Quote

If you don’t mind my asking what don’t you like? I bought the 7’-3” hvy and I’m pretty pleased with mine. But as they say different strokes for different folks. I feel the build quality is pretty good overall and I’m pretty sure that’s about what I paid for my gray version. Quote

I really don't know how to describe it, but something just doesn't feel right. I have set them aside, then pulled them back out to give another chance a few times and just keeping putting them back in the corner. I would seriously give them to someone close if I didn't have to mess with shipping. For one, they feel a lot more tip heavy than the older black & gold one I have, plus Ive found that I really don't like foam grips. I realize "tip heavy" usually isn't as big of a deal on cranking rods since you're usually tip down anyway, but just not a fan of these and I've got plenty of other options.. For the price, I've found I like the H20 Express Ethos cranking rods better. And for a little more, I like the Fury 705cb much better. Obviously, I like the Champions even more, but those are on a different price level. Quote
