Oakley Prizm shallow water lenses

Anyone have or use them?

 

I've been debating for a long time on getting a set of lenses, but wanted to hear from someone who had them.

 

I wear Oakley polarized glasses...just wondering if the fishing specific lenses actually had any benefits beyond just the standard polarized ones?

Sounds like the difference between these two is the color of the water (Deeps is for ocean, Shallows for inland water (green)). I'm guessing they are made to filter slightly different colors.

I had a pair of Split Shots with those lenses. Coming from a cheaper pair of polarized sunglasses I really noticed a difference, the lenses were the best part of those Oakleys. Ended up having issues with the metal retainer rusting, Oakley (Luxottica) replaced them, and I sold the replacement pair because in the meantime I'd gotten a pair of Costas.

Overall I like the Costas better, but have to admit that the Shallow Water lenses on the Oakleys were just a bit better than the Green Mirror 580P on the Costas. It's hard to describe, but under the same conditions on the same body of water I feel the Prizm lenses had a slightly better contrast.

 

Or I may have read so many "reviews" and seen so many YouTube videos that it's all placebo effect and @jbsoonerfan is right. I definitely wouldn't rule that out ?

Costas,  Oakley,  Rayban and pretty much every brand or glasses come from the same place,  Luxottica.  It’s a monopoly and should be broken up or band from the US.  Any perceived difference in quality is the result of their evil marketing’s effect on your brain.  
 

You need to buy your glasses from Walmart, Sam’s Club,  or Worby Parker.  It’s humanity’s only hope.  ?
 

PS - I have heard that wearing Oakleys increases rod sensitive.

I've worn Oakley sunglasses since the 80's (d**n I'm old), and just figured if people agreed that the Prizm shallow water lenses were worth it, I'd buy a set to fit my flak 2.0 frames.

I like my Oakley Flaks. Good glasses, like the Prizm lenses. They repel water exceptionally well and don't fog which saved I disagree a couple times getting caught out in a storm on a boat.

I have em, and I love them. I am too cheap for Costas. I get the Oakleys from US standard issue as a Veteran I get a good discount on them. 

 

This is the 2nd year I will be using them. No complaints at all.

@CrashVector, check out Revant Optics for Oakley replacement lenses. I’ve been using them for quite awhile for my fishing needs. Since the 80’s it’s been Vuarnet’s, Rayban Wayfarer’s, Sunclouds, Bucci’s, Oakleys and Costas. Picture of my old, reliable Oakley frames with Revant lenses

I picked up a set of Prizm Shallow Water XL lenses to go with my flak 2.0SI desert frames.

 

I'll let everyone know if they're actually better than my copper/brown polarized Walmart specials or not.

Any update? I need to replace my current set of oakleys and wanted to see your thoughts on this set of lenses vs a standard polarized black.

Stick with the standard polarized ones.

 

I see no difference in these lenses and regular polarized ones.

I have been using Smith's for several years now and they have great for fishing.  I would never pay full price for them but good glasses and good customer service.  

 

On a side note, at my old job they spent the cash for Oakley safety glasses with the mirror frames. They came in a big tube they attached to the wall.  They just kept refilling it. I had several pairs. It was a crazy waist of money. They were great for work but not so great for fishing.

Can anyone find the Prizm shallow water lenses for Frogskins? I don't really love the normal prizm lens for water activities.

I have been wearing my updated Arnettes with Revant lenses.  totally worth the $40 for the lens update.  I havent worn my glass Costas again.  opps.    ( I will tomorrow)

 

I found the Bajio glasses website the best at explaining the nuances of the various lens colors.  Costa does a fair job as well.
