Exactly - when I can order something from Digitaka, located in Kobe, Japan, and have it IN HAND within three days - and TW takes at least that long to get it out the door....something's wrong.

 

Fleet Farm - usually have it in 2-3 days when I have it shipped.

Scheels - same

FishUSA - same

'unmentionable' - same

Hook-up - same

 

I'm done with TW...I can get everything they sell from someplace else faster and usually at the same or even lower price without having to whine about it.

Somebody has to pay full retail for reels and rods then wait 2 weeks for them to show up.  TW exists to be the lowest common denominator.  If you know what you are doing you should feel bad buying from them.  I know I do.  No, I will not elaborate.

Just to follow up-I've done 2 orders with them after I started this thread. The recent BF sale's rod and stuff shipped in 3 days. Not going to cry about that. The Christmas sale stuff, about the same. Fine. I couldn't find the rod anywhere else, so that worked. Their other sale stuff was competitive price-wise, so.

 

The upside here is that I was compelled to branch out and consider other places where I wouldn't have looked otherwise. Midway ships the same day and has some great sales, as do several unmentionables. The tumult happened, but in the end I'm better off for it. I turned a few of my friends on to what I'd found, and they cleaned up. too.

 

Choices are good, and even better when you didn't even know you had them beforehand.

To stay on topic, all my purchases from TW have taken 5 days +/- to ship. Not too fond of that especially since my grandson started working at Academy.

There's a few web-stores that for one reason or another have gottne on Glenn's 'naughty list'. We're not allowed to name them - though I have seen a couple posts where the initials of one are stated and seemingly allowed since they never get edited/deleted - nor are we allowed to post links/images/anything from those sites.

 

And no - there's no list, so it's like Russian Roulette...you don't know if you'll be dinged or not.

I have done 2 orders from TW since they got a certain issue fixed and while not the quickest process it was acceptable. I usually order in the off season so how long it takes to get something doesn't bother me. The only bummer now is that something changed in there pricing model and they are no longer the low cost option. I now have to shop around to get the best prices. I am sure they would price match, but when it is a lot of items, that isn't worth my time on the phone.

I stayed away from posting on this simply because some feel strongly about certain subjects.

I, as a rule, buy from my local tackle shop first. They are competitive price wise and for the most part can get me what I want if they don't have it. One item they can't get direct is Shimano Reels. 

 

I order all my Reels from Tackle Warehouse.  I order some tackle on occasion and sometimes some clothing. I usually order ahead. What I mean by that is it will get here when it does and won't make a difference to me. That said I apparently am lucky in that I usually have my stuff at my door within a week. 

In the end I will continue to order from TW when I need to and while I might find it cheaper(maybe) elsewhere I will stick with my local shop and TW.

Unless it’s tw Black Friday deal I don’t bother with them much anymore !  In the last year I’ve had a couple orders take a week just to be shipped and their excuse was Covid and the last time shipping is slow since I used the free shipping option… that was the last straw for me . It makes no difference what option I choose to ship from them to dictate how long it takes them to pack my order up. 
their prices aren’t that great either  and anything new release isn’t in stock typically where other places actually have it ready to buy and ship. 
they do have alot to offer product wise when it’s in stock  I’ll give them that! But they are slowly hurting themselves

I usually place an order with TW every couple months. Never had any issues. Received one order a couple months ago in 2 days.

Pretty much this. I’ve had pretty decent interactions with TW for the most part, but it’s always the shipping. I’ve had orders with tracking show up a day early and as much as a week late. There’s better options that may be closer to home.

Same here. I order from them about twice a month on average I would say. I’ve never had an issue with them. My stuff always ships within a day and in my hands within a week. But I never order stuff that is backordered, from them or any other vendor. I’m surprised to hear all the issues people are having with TW.

I'm patient these days, but after 5 or 6 orders now from them, my average time from order to mailbox is around 1.5 weeks.    

 

My main complaint is that on a number of baits they've sent me, there's minor damage on a few lures, but not enough for me to go through the hassle of returning them.  In the future though I'll let them know about it.   

 

I shop with TW because they are the walmart of tackle price wise usually, and they have almost everything I want to buy.    My local store is out of GG Threadfin in MB 110s for example, they are GTG.   

 

I see both sides of the discussion here, they are legit good business in most regards, but like most companies they do these sales at holidays and get hugely bogged down.   Now with the Free shipping if true which I have no reason to doubt, I'm conflicted on it.     After 5-6 orders they never made that clear enough that I knew that policy, I do like coloring books though.

The selection is what really does it for me. Especially the rod selection. My local Field & Stream’s selection of rods is beyond terrible. They used to carry all different models of Fenwicks and Okumas but now only in-shore Ugly Stiks, Favorites in big obnoxious plastic packaging so you can’t even feel the rod, and St. Croix 8’ muskie sticks that look like you could joust with. And the tackle they have is always so close to what I need but never exact. TW’s selection is so great and the overall ease is what really draws me. It would take me a lot of screws up on their part to get me to stop but hopefully I don’t have to worry about that haha when I have an order coming I’m impatient.
