Has this been a thing lately for anyone?

I placed an order for a rod on Friday. I spoke to a rep about my order and asked whether it would be shipped from the east or west coast. The rep said they had plenty in stock of this item in both locations, and since I'm on the east coast it would be shipped from that facility. Standard ground shipping to me would take the same time as if I paid the upcharge to get it shipped from the west coast, 2 days, so I opted for standard UPS ground. If stock was limited to the west coast I would've happily paid for fast shipping like I always do if that's the situation. I don't want my rods going through multiple facilities, conveyers, and extra handling. This has ended badly in the past from them with another rod of mine and 2 for my brother. I actually followed up, per the phone rep's suggestion, gave them my order number, and reiterated my preference for the rod to come from the east coast branch. He said "no problem". He made a note. Perhaps he was "air" typing?

I finally received my shipping confirmation and tracking # tonight, now 5 days later. 5 Days to process and ship(!), and of course it was shipped from California via ups ground. The arse backwards opposite of what I wanted and what they said they would absolutely do, "no problem". I won't have it for this weekend as planned, and I won't be surprised if it shows up bashed. What a waste of energy. I've had nothing but good dealings and smooth sailing with other fishing retailers, and they live and operate in the same world as TW. I don't get it, and I really don't need this aggravation.

Took 'em six days to process and ship my last rod. They've been relegated to a "sale only" retailer for me. Maybe not even then.

Ever since the hack attack and the 2 months to alert customers I haven’t bought from them. And everything I would buy they are out of. I don’t expect to be doing any business with them anytime in the future.

I’ve made several orders within the past few months with no problems

Plus - despite their "Guaranteed Lowest Prices", I frequently find things at a lower price elsewhere.

Is this a thing? I know they'll price-match, but have never heard of this.

I still use TW, but I'll give Omnia my business first if they have the stuff I want in stock.

They ship super slow, but every time I’ve called they’ve been super nice and helpful.

I think the only reason I go to TW over Omnia is they have a broader selection, but even the things they both carry tend to be out of stock more often at Omnia

I'm guessing this is why my CC company called and cancelled my card a few months back. Got a phone call that a vendor I used had been hacked.

Been ordering on and off for six months and have been happy with their service and shipping times. Latest order I got an email that things may be delayed but their projected arrival is still looking good.

The 'Guaranteed Lowest Price' thing....it's in bold letters in the top banner of their web-page.

Personally - if I gotta ask a store to price-match...then their prices aren't that good.

Locally - Omnia, Scheels and Fleet Farm get my business...ya, they're all local to me

Online - FishUSA and ALF are always my first stops...I rarely even look at TW anymore.

No problems with tackle warehouse. Only once during early stages of the pandemic my shipment was late, but they communicated it ahead of time.

Also helps that they have 10% veteran discount on everything.

My most recent order arrived in 5 days since purchase, as advertised.

I just started using TW again after the dust settled from them getting hacked, having an incompetent system, and hiding it all from the customers for 2 months so they could make that holiday cash.

One order was an overnight delivery. I placed my order the afternoon before, and received it the next morning.

The second order was standard ground. My package was initially estimated to arrive in 5 days, and it arrived in exactly 5 days.

Everything as it was supposed to be, and so far, no hacked account.

I too had a hacked account that traced backed to Tackle Warehouse. I placed an order before I knew it was TW who cleans behind those fraudulent charges. That order had arrived at the local UPS warehouse and was lost. It took too long to get a refund processed. I haven’t used them since.

In my experience a low price guarantee often involves price matching. They can't possibly know every price at every store constantly.

I'll do a little legwork if I can find a deal. In fact I sometimes find a low price online, then have the local guys match it if it's in stock. If it's a small store I probably won't, I feel guilty making them match internet prices.

I’m usually late to the party. But back a few months ago I had my cc compromised. It was most likely because of something at TW. Never really but it together. There was a post on here about the situation but I blew the post off. Never opening it until weeks later. Nothing ever went against me or the bank. Bank never took a loss.

As others said I just let the dust settle for a bit. I was in no rush to order anything anyway.

I’ve had many orders prior to the situation and have had a couple since. I’ve never had one bit of a problem with them. I believe there were a couple of orders where they noted they were having delays. There were delays but not extremely long. I’ll stick with them until I take a screwing. And The guys that do jump ship by taking a screwing or being lied to, I can see your point and don’t blame you one bit.

I’ve been lucky with all my rods.

I keep hoping to 'run into him' when on Tonka as that's his 'home lake'. Vids he's in when he's not on tour are usually done on Tonka.

I ran into him when the tour came to the river here at home . And when I say ran into he zoomed by at high speed and waved haha

Never had an issue with them. Every time something needed to be resolved, it was. I think it’s best to not depend on something arriving in a time frame you make up, to use for a specific trip. You will be more disappointed if something goes wrong. Things happen, people make mistakes, shippers screw up. I’ve had rods go missing, get broken, and get damaged during shipping. If it happens deal with it. Too much complaining about stuff, you don’t like a company don’t use them.

First of all, there's nothing you can find in my history here where I've complained about incidental nonsense. I'm not that bored. Normally I wouldn't argue your point. However, when verbal confirmation of my specific wishes being granted not once but twice with 10 minutes turns out to be nothing less than smoke being blown up my posterior...yeah I'm going to complain. I might even ask publically if I'm the only one whose received this type of treatment. It's a sincere way to gauge whether my upset is warranted, or if this type of thing is isolated. Turns out that it's not.

Perhaps a high profile bass fishing centric retailer who sees negative feedback from more than one complainant on the largest bass fishing forum on earth will endeavor to plug some holes. Maybe not. Personally I've avoided upsetting my customers from day one. I haven't had to apologize for anything, ever. That's not easy, trust me, but it's possible, and my business is far more complex than retailing merchandise.

They tend to frown on bashing retailers on here, but I do agree about the presence of this forum could be influential on improving service.

I would never order a rod online.  You can't pick it up and hold it and touch it.  How do you know what its going to feel like if you order it online?  You literally can't.  Its like buying shoes online.  How do you know they are going to fit unless you try them on?  There's just certain things that don't mix well with buying online, and a fishing rod is one of them.

(hangs his head)

Of the 16 rods I've purchased in the last 4 years - only two did I buy in person...rest were online

I know my size and what brands fit my size...my new steel-toed work boots I got 3 months ago? Ya, got them from Amazon. Fit great.

Yeah I’m with you. I don’t remember the last time I bought a rod in person. Returning rods purchased online is as easy as buying them.

I buy shoes online as well. Same brand same size every time, when I wear them out I get a new pair.

Its a comfort thing for me.  I guess if you already know that the shoes are going to fit and be comfortable before you try them on, you wouldn't need to try them on.  I don't know that ahead of time.

I don't know what the rod is going to feel like in my hands until I hold it and I'm definitely not buying it until I hold it.  Maybe its just personal preference on some of these things.

Do you guys buy cars without test driving them too?  Like from the carvana thing?

Big difference. Like @Mat_ski said - returning rods is pretty easy, though I've been happy with my purchases and not had to.

Same with Amazon - I've returned a few things...mostly because I decided that I really didn't want it, or it was something I though would work like I wanted but didn't. VERY easy to return things with them.

Cars - I've always done a test drive...even if it was a used, cheap 'beater' car that I knew I wouldn't own more than a year or two.

Normally I'd never ever do this without having tried one of my friend's first, etc, but as it turns out I'm afflicted with a condition which makes me vulnerable to particular subliminal messages. This was recently revealed to me through deep psycho-therapy sessions. Where most folk would click on a random post about chatterbaits by @T-Billy in order to get his take on blade color, trailers, etc, all that registered in my subconscious was "Buy ARK Rods", " Buy ARK Rods". Enslaved by this sneaky low level signal I no idea I'd even ordered the rod until it was too late. I'm pretty sure he got @Mike L  with this too.

I will say, TW has the easiest and best return system around. They literally send a return label with your purchase in case you wanna return something. Rods included.

I've only bought two rods without handling them first, one was a Fenwick HMG that I saw recommended here many times. I love it!

The other rod, I managed to tweak and fix a very slightly misaligned guide. It is hard to find things in stock now so I made it work and it's perfect now.

Covid has made it much more difficult to find stuff. I had to order my HMG from a small store in Minnesota. I checked them out first to make sure they were legit. It was the only rod I found anywhere in stock.

But I like to handle a rod really, even if a store doesn't have the exact power or whatever I want in stock at least I can feel it and see the build.
