Super User PhishLI Posted March 2, 2022 Super User Posted March 2, 2022 Has this been a thing lately for anyone? I placed an order for a rod on Friday. I spoke to a rep about my order and asked whether it would be shipped from the east or west coast. The rep said they had plenty in stock of this item in both locations, and since I'm on the east coast it would be shipped from that facility. Standard ground shipping to me would take the same time as if I paid the upcharge to get it shipped from the west coast, 2 days, so I opted for standard UPS ground. If stock was limited to the west coast I would've happily paid for fast shipping like I always do if that's the situation. I don't want my rods going through multiple facilities, conveyers, and extra handling. This has ended badly in the past from them with another rod of mine and 2 for my brother. I actually followed up, per the phone rep's suggestion, gave them my order number, and reiterated my preference for the rod to come from the east coast branch. He said "no problem". He made a note. Perhaps he was "air" typing? I finally received my shipping confirmation and tracking # tonight, now 5 days later. 5 Days to process and ship(!), and of course it was shipped from California via ups ground. The arse backwards opposite of what I wanted and what they said they would absolutely do, "no problem". I won't have it for this weekend as planned, and I won't be surprised if it shows up bashed. What a waste of energy. I've had nothing but good dealings and smooth sailing with other fishing retailers, and they live and operate in the same world as TW. I don't get it, and I really don't need this aggravation. 1 Quote
Lead Head Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 When you pay for 2 day air, but they can get the package to the destination within 2 days with normal ground, it will be moved through the system like a ground package. The exception is if it is delayed "in system" for some reason, it may get upgraded. When covid hit, companies suspended air guarantees, and (as far as I know) still haven't reinstated them, making upgrades less common. Sounds like you made the right call, but TW dropped the ball. If you contact them again, I would be interested to hear what they have to say. My most recent dealings with them have been positive. Quote
leinad Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 yes it is . placed 2 day shipping order on 2/24 8:00 am pst and did not receive an order confirmation , sent email late that night ((est)( gave them my complete address and paypal transaction info)) and got a response 3 days later on sunday saying i screwed my email address up and they couldn't find my order ; yet they sent me a copy of my original order as one usually gets with no tracking info. got the order yesterday . ironbjorn Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 I just started using TW again after the dust settled from them getting hacked, having an incompetent system, and hiding it all from the customers for 2 months so they could make that holiday cash. One order was an overnight delivery. I placed my order the afternoon before, and received it the next morning. The second order was standard ground. My package was initially estimated to arrive in 5 days, and it arrived in exactly 5 days. Everything as it was supposed to be, and so far, no hacked account. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 2, 2022 Super User Posted March 2, 2022 Frustrating for sure, but not surprising. If you aren't set up for these logistics to happen automatically or self verify, the best thing to do is say no, otherwise no one is happy, not the customer, not the person on the phone making minimum wage, not the owners with the dwindling margins, not the guy working in the warehouse, wait, maybe the bass... 2 Quote
NoShoes Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 I ordered a frog order on a Sunday couple weeks ago. 5 days later it was still sitting ready to ship. I called and canceled after being put on hold 30 minutes , went to spro and had my order the day after next. Tackle warehouse is still having some pretty heavy issues. Hope they get resolved one day, they used to be my go-to. Quote

There's a lot of better places to shop but Omnia can't be beat to be honest- $30 gets you a 1 year premium membership. A premium membership gets free shipping with no minimum order, and 10% back on every order as store credit- there's also ALWAYS a 15% off code to use that's good for everything in stock. Do the math, it's like stealing. Bonus: If you're in MN, I've had most orders on my doorstep the next day. 4 1 Quote

In addition - I won't order anything from TW if it's out of stock and would be put on backorder...their backorder shipping policy is nuts. Plus - despite their "Guaranteed Lowest Prices", I frequently find things at a lower price elsewhere. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 2, 2022 Super User Posted March 2, 2022 I have not had any issues. Good prices, good selection and great service. I think they are the premier retailer. Quote

I've not been hacked..had 2 rods delivered in perfect condition..and received every order at or before the estimated delivery date. Anytime I've had an issue they were very helpful and only one time they couldn't resolve it..that was a visa gift card and the issue was with the card not them. 1 Quote

It's hard to keep the same fire going as when you first started your business. oe Quote

rgasr63 Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 If I am buying a rod online I always prefer Bass Pro. The rods are delivered by FedEx. It is always a happy transaction. Other than fishing rods I go to Karl's Club first. They have the best prices online for members and they ship well. I have received all of my orders within the shipping window shown at the point of sale. TW. always has the better selection in stock but I can't say my transactions are pleasant and on time. They are third tier in shopping order. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 2, 2022 Super User Posted March 2, 2022 The last order I placed with them was during the summer of 2021. Everything showed in stock but was later informed my order would be delayed. It took about 5 weeks to get. I like them but if I need something I have other outlets to feed my tackle obsession. Quote
camman Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 TW service responsiveness has certainly declined in the last few years (even pre-covid). I remember when I started first ordering probably 20 years ago it was top notch. I still think they probably carry some of the best selections though. You also need to realize that at least in California they just passed some additional Covid time off allowances for workers and it adds to the already short labor market. Quote

After I'd sent them the pictures of my first busted rod tube, and cleanly broken in two rod, I expected to see a credit on my CC eventually, but nothing. Once I'd gotten around to following up with them on the matter I found they made the executive decision to keep my funds as a store credit minus the $15 fast shipping charge I'd payed. I've been in business for a long time and I've never pulled cheesy stuff like that, ever. At the time I just chalked it up as an innocent error, but now that I feel like I've been blatantly disregarded, or simply lied to, maybe the store credit situation actually stinks more than I thought at the time. 7 minutes ago, camman said: You also need to realize that at least in California they just passed some additional Covid time off allowances for workers and it adds to the already short labor market. California has nothing to do with this. I was assured, twice in two phone calls, that all the items in my order were in stock at their east coast warehouse and would ship from there. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted March 2, 2022 Super User Posted March 2, 2022 I order my rods, baits, line and various other miscellaneous items from tackle warehouse. For jigs, shaky heads, tungsten and rage plastics I normally order from Siebert. I've personally never had a bad experience with either. Mikes responsiveness, prices, quality and helpful attitude makes Sieberts a winner. Maybe I've just been lucky with tackle warehouse thus far..my buddy has had a few issues. If I encounter ridiculous issues like some are having I'd look elsewhere also. That's the beauty of the internet..lots of options for us tacklehounds. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted March 2, 2022 Super User Posted March 2, 2022 I’ve never needed to contact them. They ship so quickly for me. Overnight usually. I use PayPal just in case for that perceived level of protection. I never back order but I do take advantage of their “in stock” email notifications. I keep stuff in my wish list until I can compile a $50 order. Which is surprisingly EASY. I LIKE THEM. Quote
jbrew73 Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 I have never had an issue with tackle warehouse. When I need something quickly I pay for 2 day air and I get it on time. If I’m in no rush I order ground and don’t even pay attention to how long it takes. They are my go to online tackle shop. 1 Quote
