Not having any siblings I didn't have the worry about the family infighting that sometimes takes place, but it took me almost 2-1/2 years to get their estate cleaned up and sold. That worries me a lot. My mom and "dad" technically step-dad own a lot of land, 2 houses, tractors, trailers, cattle, horses, etc. along with owning a grocery store. I have 2 step-brothers and a step-sister. I dread the day I have to deal with all of the nonsense. 2 Quote

My sister and I do not talk at all, my stepbrother and I we’re not not close but we pick up where we left off when we see each other, same with one stepsister, and the other I’ve not seen or talked to in probably 15+ years. My mom and stepdad have done pretty well for themselves, have chunks of land around the state, and have plenty of things at home as well. I hounded them for years to go to an estate planner because I guarantee you it would not be pretty otherwise. My stepbrother and I could be adults, and maybe the one stepsister, but my sister and the other not a chance. Finally they listened to me and according to my mom everything is spelled out to a T. Hopefully that means it would go smoothly, but I don’t know how that works. Hopefully your parents have done or do the same. 1 Quote
