Disregard the aluminum metal piece going vertically from the transducer mount. That was an attempt to alleviate this problem but the top part of it eventually broke off. Super User Bird Posted February 26, 2022 Super User Posted February 26, 2022 That would bother me. Do they make an in hull transducer for your fish finder ? I know my Fish finder offers an in-hull mounting kit but if I'm not mistaken,it will only read through Fiberglass. Quote

This is a Lowrance side and down scan transducer. The one to the right is their skimmer transducer. FYI, The transducers work perfect. The spray is from the large down/side transducer. 1 1 Quote

No amount of 'adjusting' it came close to helping. I have a 'transducer' mounting plate on the hull Went with this unit. Solved it instantly. cyclops2 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 All transducers will read thru ANY SOLID hull material. some bottoms can have Styrofoam types between inner and outer hull surfaces. All shoot right thru solid Aluminum. Test by using water inside hull. Press ducer against hull in deep water of KNOWN DEPTH. Should agree. Speed up the boat . Retest the same depth spot. different reading ? move ducer closer to keel & repeat speed runs. I clean the hull spot with a rag & Acetone. Big enough G E RTV blob. Press ducer into the blob. Temporarily tape the ducer to stay vertical with a small piece of wood just on the edge till firmed up. Quote

Can I epoxy the Side Imaging or Down Imaging transducer in the hull of my fiberglass boat and allow the sonar to shoot through the hull? No. Side Imaging transducers have beams that shoot out to the side of the transducer therefore they cannot be epoxied into the hull and work properly. In addition, we do not recommend this type of installation for Down Imaging. Shooting through the hull of a fiberglass boat causes the signal to be lost. Quote
