Instead of buying new treble hooks for my jitterbug lure i just took them and the rings off the whopper plopper. I put the rings and trebles on the jitterbug because the original hooks are installed on the hook keepers in a way that there is really no side to side and front to back swinging movement of the hooks.

I also added some maibou flashing for the heck of it using shrink tubeing to secure it on the hook. I have a plan to use the jitterbug on the river wading for smallmouth.

I borrow hooks from Paul to put on Peter all the time. FYI, I fished the jitterbug a lot recently with the cicada bloom, and I made many mods, among them adding hair and feathers to the hooks, and found that anything I did only made the catching worse. A slight bend of the lip and tie, and better hooks was the ticket.

I have never bought new rings or trebles.  Save them from lures being trashed.  Why not.

hi deleted, what did you do to the lip to make it work better for you?

I closed the ears down (forward) a touch, making one slightly more cupped than the other, then I "polish" the eye rivet thing so that it is very free, then finally bent the tab where it enters the lip up a tad. I like working it with a high tip keeping the line out of the water. When it gets into a rhythm, it walks and gurgles almost on it's own.
