Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 21, 2010 Super User Posted April 21, 2010 So I got my Jon out on a lake other than my own for the first time today and noticed one thing that I'd like to do. Anybody out there know of a way to cut a transducer cable and attach a male and female plug at the cut point to make it a quick disconnect? The only reason I'm wondering is because I'd love to be able to remove my bow mounted TM so the boat is much easier to carry from the backyard and put into the truck. Pictures, links, calling me an idiot, all input is needed. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 21, 2010 Super User Posted April 21, 2010 The application you mention is done commercially with the trolling motors that have built-in transducers. I have an Alumaducer that is adaptable to various sonar units via plug ins. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 21, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 21, 2010 Thats good to hear. Now I just need to find an appropriate set of plugs for a Lowrance products. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 21, 2010 Super User Posted April 21, 2010 You can probably find a suitable plug set at Radio Shack. One that is at least semi-weather proof should be your choice. Gold plated contact points are a desired trait also. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 21, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 21, 2010 Radio Shack? No kidding. What kind of cable is in the inside of the insulation? Just shielded Co-ax? If thats the case, I probably have some screw down pin connectors here... Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 21, 2010 Super User Posted April 21, 2010 The shield and center wire are too fragile for the TV cable screw down fittings. Quote
