I get that, but for marketing purpose, shouldn't they come up with some catchy new terms, instead of keep using the same one over and over and over again, or forcing people to relearn their Physics class? This graphic is used for all their SV reels.....same graphic on the Coastal SV, limited 103, etc. I'm assuming i'm telling you the same there here as over on TT. Don't read into this. It isn't national treasure. Quote

You'd think, but bean counters count beans. We'll have to see once someone has a hold of one or a vid comes out of a japanese enthusiast site. The bigger sites often get them quickly for 1st impressions. 3 minutes ago, iabass8 said: Don't read into this. It isn't national treasure. We can pretend it is. Can't we?? For all we know they could be calling double crank bearings Hyper Double Support , which is SOP with them already. Would they do us dirty like that? Quote

There's clips of the spool out of the reel on IG yesterday. I'll let you guys play Sherlock Holmes? Quote

I don't think Daiwa would present a dual supported pinion gear without a floating spool like Shimano does. It never happened with Daiwa reels. TW 80 only has "Hyper Drive gearing system," which is the above #1 feature, and it's confirmed to have a spool shaft. For only $30 more, I'd definitely go with the SV 70, or the Alphas SV. They are pretty much the same reel with different paint job. https://daiwa.us/collections/baitcasting-reels/products/tatula-sv70 What I don't get is why Daiwa has so many Tatulas and "Hyper" stuff. It's exhausting. All those “new” “hyper” features plus full floating spools were standard across all their mid to top tier reels 20 years ago. The market is so competitive these reel companies are reinventing the wheel to try and stand out. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted March 5, 2022 Super User Posted March 5, 2022 30mm spool? im not a Daiwa expert like some here, but smaller SV spool, same 7+1 bearing and same 6.5oz. I don’t hold my breath. I don’t see the spool yet but will of course post here as soon as I see it. Quote

Except maybe the "Hyper gear," which uses deeper gear teeth with different design. It's new on paper, but in practice, 20 year old Alphas and TDZ reels are just as smooth, and more durable IMO. OK, I'll stop here before I digress. Quote
zpelletier Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 I messaged The Tackle Trap on Instagram, they told me no free floating spool in any Tatula. Quote
