Super User JustJames Posted February 25, 2022 Super User Posted February 25, 2022 Yeah I wish Daiwa hold on to original name as Alphas or something new not another tatula. 3 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted February 26, 2022 Super User Posted February 26, 2022 Im holding out for the Sv Tatula SV 10 SV with the new improved SV 3 Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 I saw that too. I assume it is just a USDM version of Alphas SV TW. Can't find anything on it anywhere else online. Here's a snapshot of the magazine page. Though now that I look at the image I posted, it doesn't have the same low mounted brake dial the new Zillion and Alphas have. This brake knob looks like a Tat100 brake dial. Fyi,.... The QR barcode in the lower left corner is supposed to take you to a video, but doesn't work and takes you to a generic Daiwa page. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 26, 2022 Super User Posted February 26, 2022 Found this on Daiwa's website..... Not sure if its for this reel but what are they up to? 1 Quote
swhit140 Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Probably real similar to the Tatula TW 80 as the Asian market. Don't be surprised if I buy a couple new reels from Digitaka in a couple weeks. 1 Quote

I’m not thrilled by it, but at least they’re only trying to be mysterious for a week. I’d be really annoyed if they did this a month out. Quote
LCG Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Maybe Digi hyper super plus nothing against Daiwa, they make good reels, but their advertising is a little much. 1 Quote

I thought it was dumb and that they were trying too hard but it's their way of having fun and hyping up a reel debut. My guess it's a new Exist LT Air or some other version of this reel. Also, if you are a Daiwa fan (I wasn't able to post a link), check out Daiwa DE's site. They have a downloadable 2022 Daiwa catalog for Denmark but it explains everything that is Daiwa. And I mean everything. It's very cool. Every spec, material, and technology is explained in great detail. Not all US reels are listed but it's a wealth of info. 2 Quote
GReb Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Here’s a thought Daiwa: - discontinue of the Tatula CT frame models. Only keep the Fuego - rename the Tatula Elite, just Elite - the other 100 size reels remain Tatula so you just have Tatula and Tatula SV - name these new models Alphas since that’s what they are 1 Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Stopped by one of our local shops yesterday and asked if they had heard anything on these. She asked me where I heard about them and I told her about the ad in the new Bassmaster magazine. She said their rep asked them not to mention it because Daiwa was wanting to keep it quiet until they could get inventory stocked in stores and available. Looks like Bassmaster may have released the ad earlier that intended. She estimated receiving them mid to late March 1 Quote

The Fuego should be $99, and they should bring over the Fuego SV and price that similar to the Tatula CT. The Tatula 100 should be the entry level Tatula and maybe price it a little lower than it is now. I think Shimano has a better marketing strategy, how they have the SLX line, and as you go up in price you add features (MGL, DC) and the Curado line does the same. It makes their line up easier to understand what features you’re getting for additional price. Daiwa could do this same thing (Fuego, Fuego SV, Fuego Elite, etc). I think they could sell way more reels this way. But I don’t think there’s a problem with naming these new reels Tatula though. Thats their line of reels that’s most popular and has a reputation of being quality reels. It’s less risky to expand a known line of reels than to introduce a new line. Maybe I’m wrong, idk, that’s just my humble opinion. ??♂️ 2 Quote
redmeansdistortion Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 Here it is everybody https://daiwa.us/products/tatula-sv70 Says it's a Hyperdrive reel, which means it probably has the free floating spool unlike the TW80 which isn't advertised as such. Quote

The lit on the Daiwa link you provided says double support, so that means at least the pinion is supported. Metal handle sideplate, so that's cool. No playing around. If in the end we get a free floating spool too this one should nicely fill the spot right below the Zillion G. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Tatula_SV_TW_70_Casting_Reel/descpage-DEG.html Quote

newapti5 Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 Here's what "Hyper Drive" means according to Daiwa: Quote HYPER DRIVE DESIGN - New design concepts are the pinnacle of durability and innovation. The Hyper Drive Design consists of four new elements: Hyper Armed Housing, Hyper Drive Digigear, Hyper Double Support, Hyper Tough Clutch. 1. HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR- a brand-new gear design makes the teeth of the gears more efficient at transferring power, therefore making the gear set feel smoother, more powerful and also reducing gear noise. 2. HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT- a two bearing support system for the reel's pinion gear means no flex and an ultra smooth retrieve/ gear rotation. 3. HYPER ARMED HOUSING- the reel features an aluminum frame and side plate for maximum rigidity and precision performance of the internal components. 4. HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH- a redesigned and reinforced clutch mechanism increases durability and performance. The new SV 70 has "Hyper Drive", which should include a free floating spool and all the above "Hyper" features. I don't think Daiwa would present a dual supported pinion gear without a floating spool like Shimano does. It never happened with Daiwa reels. TW 80 only has "Hyper Drive gearing system," which is the above #1 feature, and it's confirmed to have a spool shaft. For only $30 more, I'd definitely go with the SV 70, or the Alphas SV. They are pretty much the same reel with different paint job. https://daiwa.us/collections/baitcasting-reels/products/tatula-sv70 What I don't get is why Daiwa has so many Tatulas and "Hyper" stuff. It's exhausting. 1 Quote
