I have (for now) 1 duralast 24MD-DL battery for the TM, and another identical battery for accessories.  I'm not happy with the runtime of this 12 volt tm system.  until I can afford to upgrade to a 36 volt, 101# powerdrive i-pilot, I want to parallel these two batteries for some extended runtime.  My questions are:

1.  can I expect to get interference with my humminbird?

2.  What other pitfalls come with this setup that I am not aware of?

Are you using the accessory battery for your starting battery on the boat too?

no, I've got a third battery just for cranking that I didnt mention. sorry.

The problem is the size 24 battery is why your not getting enough trolling time, You can hooked the up together and it will get you alot more time and as far as your electronics, try it and see if you get interfrence

or not and if you do then I would put all the electronics on the boat start battery and see how that does. Some anglers have problems with interference and others don't so if I were you I would try it for yourself and see what happens. Good luck and keep us informed of how you are doing.

Jim, what SIZE battery would be better? Don't know much about deep cycle battery sizing. I think its an 85 amp/hr battery.

I kind of know hahaha sorry.

You need to have a good size 27's if you are trolling alot during the day. Now I wouldn't go out and buy new batteries because I would use the two 24's you have now until they are done. When your batteries are done then i would look to your local battery guys and do your homework on the company your buying from and get to know them and make sure they really know batteries before you buy, Good luck

I had two 27 series batteries powering everything on my last boat. It worked great. I could use the electric motor all day, and had no interference in either my Eagle fishmark320 or my garmin gpsmap 431.

The only pitfall I would avoid if I were you is killing one of the batteries. If you leave the circuit connected when not in use then the stronger of the two batteries will leach off of the weaker one until it will no longer hold a charge. The way to prevent this is to either keep them on a battery tender/maintainer when stored as I did, or disconnect the circuit when not in use.

Good luck!
