GRiver Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Does anybody use any kind of treatment or anything on their jig, buzz bait and spinnerbait skirts? I heard a few different things to spray or dip them in to make the last longer and not stick together.. just wondering what if anything other people use. Thanks G Quote
KDW96 Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 I dont use anything,as most all my skirts are silicone. I do let them hang to dry before storing them if they are wet. 3 Quote
newapti5 Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 If you don't mind lingering strong scents, JJ's Magic can change skirt color permanently. You dip the end of green pumpkin skirt into the pink color JJ's Magic, you get some nice orange tips. Quote

Snake oil? Seriously though, I've dragged silicone and rubber skirts out of the lake that had been at the bottom for years, and after washing, they're fine to reuse. I've found some that are so old they become dry and brittle and break though, so I suppose it might be possible to somehow prevent their breakdown by keeping them lubricated, but I think that's extreme and not something the average fisherman should be concerned about, unless they are leaving their skirts outside in the sun and extreme temperature ranges. 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted February 25, 2022 Super User Posted February 25, 2022 I just replace them after they become ripped, torn, or discolored. They aren't that expensive. 1 Quote

Deephaven Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Anything with a skirt I hang from my locker lids on the TH Marine Cooks storage bars. Let's them dry and all plano boxes and the like are awful IMO for spinnerbaits & chatterbaits. I do put jigs in a 3700, but I dry them on the locker lid holders after use. 1 Quote
