Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 23, 2022 Super User Posted February 23, 2022 Seems to be a belief that a hard jerk bait should suspend or slightly fall nose down during late Fall through Winter . However , as the late Winter water temps begin to rise into Pre-Spawn , a preference for a slow rising nose up jerk bait profile emerges . What are your experiences , or what determines which suspend profile you select for suspending hard jerk baits late Fall through Winter into the Pre-Spawn (i.e. horizontal suspend , slow fall nose down or slow rise nose up profiles) ? Thanks ... Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted February 23, 2022 Super User Posted February 23, 2022 In really cold water, I like them level, and sinking ever so slightly, as the water warms, a slight nose up and suspending (yeah right) or rising ever so slightly. 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 No matter the time of year, I like them to rest horizontally. As for rising or falling, I prefer a slow fall in colder water. In warmer water (after spawn), I don't feel it really matters, because the pause is so short, I don't feel it matters. 1 Quote
SmugOne Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 I have heard people talk about this but honestly I have never noticed a difference, perhaps because I tend to move it a lot quicker as the water warms. I am interested to hear everyone’s opinion though...will stay tuned in 2 Quote
KP Duty Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 I don't have a preference, and honestly don't know the position of the nose after I rip it. I usually just tie on a couple of my favorites and see which one gets more bites. 3 Quote

rangerjockey Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 I'm not sure where that belief comes from. Level or a slow sink is fine by me. Nose up or down isn't going to matter. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 25, 2022 Global Moderator Posted February 25, 2022 I like the one that the fish eat. Not sharply tail down is about the only kind I won't fish. 2 Quote
HaydenS Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Suspending or sinking a little bit in late fall-winter- early spring. Doesn’t matter the rest of the time. Quote
