Super User Bird Posted February 21, 2022 Super User Posted February 21, 2022 Couldn't fish at all this winter because of snow and lakes being frozen so focused on cutting firewood. Sitting on 14 cords and officially done for the year. Wednesday will mark the first day on the boat in 2022. Local lake has thawed and forecasted 70*......I'm stoked. Here's a few piles. 8 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted February 21, 2022 Global Moderator Posted February 21, 2022 I don’t mind cutting and splitting wood once in a while. I give anyone who does it to heat their house all winter all the props in the world! 1 Quote

Your in Tennessee, you don’t know anything about cold winters? I grew up in a farmhouse that was built in 1890. We had a fireplace in the living room, a wood stove in the basement, and a wood cook stove in the kitchen. Also had an oil furnace as well. Between the lack of decent insulation, and the three wood burning stoves, that went pretty much steady from November to April, we cut, split and piled usually about 25 cord a year. I almost feel spoiled now with only one wood stove in my house. 4 Quote

Cold for Tennessee, a couple of the winters it was 0 degree low for a few consecutive weeks, my boots froze to the floor after I took them off. Granted the place I rented wasnt well constructed, haha. My landlord collected cabins and then re assembled, the wind blew right through the walls 4 Quote

Possums and squirrels made a few appearances there was a fisher “big mama” wood stove and that’s it for heat, I fell in love with chopping wood but I over did it a few times and back never forgave me . Now I just chop a little bit for the backyard fire pit with municipality required wire mesh on top haha 1 1 Quote
