hey all!  i have never fished a swimbait and am looking to give it a try.  i was wondering what some good lures are that yall suggest that are somewhat easy on the pocket but have showed you good success.  I wanna use them for a while then move up to the big boys(mattslures) :D thanks!

haha...darn...i was gonna suggest mattlures. but they are kinda expensive. storm makes some swimbaits of much lesser quality called the "wildeye live series" they look nice but they dont run as great as they look. they are still ok baits. you get them 3 or 4 dollars for the 3 pack. do a search of "wildeye live" in basspro and you'll see what they are.

good luck! :D

I also have been wondering about swimbaits.  Has anyone every used the Black Dog Shell Cracker.  I think it looks great and I know that alot of the fish I catch feed on our high Blue Gill population.  Does someone have a better blue gill swimbait idea.  I am plannin on buying a couple of Mattlures hopefully next month.  (been rebuilding the momma dont know fund).

Hey BassB4

I use the Storms all the time. I always use the ones with the flat what I call "paddle" tale. I always use 3'. I've had 10 times the success with 3" as the 2" and 4" combined. The Storms in that size are aroune $3.50 for a bag of six so you can't beat them. It is my number one bait. I've had my best luck bumping them along the bottom & or fish very shallow in the dark sideways along the bank. That can be a problem on lakes with lots of submerged timber so you have to know your lake.

I've neve found color to matter.

You can often find them on sale for $3.

Try a bag and let me know how you do with them.
