Thinking of buying the Solix or the Helix. I heard the Solix draws alot more power?  I like the touchscreen but heard reports of problems after a few years with the touchscreen?

Can't speak for the Helix but my Solix 15 has been flawless for 3 years, but it does like the juice alot.

So I assume you have it wired to your starting battery. Or did you have to buy another for the Solix?

My 25 hp is a pull start.? I run a single Group 31 AGM for the Solix 15, 360 Imaging, and nav lights.

I have 3 Solix units.  One is hooked to my X2 cranker and the other 2 have separate (house battery) power source.

I have 2 Helix's that I am swapping out for two 12" Solix's because I'm tired of not having a touchscreen. I came from Garmin Echomap Ultras and I miss the touchschreen so bad. No matter how long I try to deal with and get used to the Helix's they are nothing but frustration for me. But with that being said, I'm switching contrast and other setting CONSTANTLY while I'm graphing. My hand never leaves the unit, so for me, over a course of a day, a touchscreen can save me up to 30 minutes of button pushing... Well worth the additional power draw for me if there is any... it won't be like that for someone who just "Sets it and forgets it" with the settings though...
