Ice Fishing Otter

Haha. State record otter!

 

My Father has had a muskrat come right up in his winter spearing house before. It scared the crap outta him but he speared it in self defense, hauled it out onto the ice, and kicked it off. He started walking back to his house and the injured muskrat comes after him like a rabid bleeding furry monster lol. So he speared it again and finished that thing off. Those things are tough and mean!

I hope that otter manages to get the hook out! 

 

I don't see how he would have been able to get it out anyways. Those things look tough and I wouldn't put my hands anywhere near its mouth.

Good question, I would imagine the the hook would eventually rust out.

Ain't gonna lie, that would have scared me as well. Truth be told, I'm not sure how I would have dealt with the otter...

I watched the video again, and they mentioned it was a 20-22 pound otter.  How the heck can they tell its that big just by looking at its face in an ice hole?

 

Sounds like a tall tale, fisherman style...

Knowing an otter, I’d say he removed it himself or pooped it out later that day. Flesh wounds don’t concern them

Otters are very resourceful and fearless animals, one of the last animals I'd mess with period.

There are a couple places I fish that have otters. Most of the time they leave me alone but one of the places I fish the otters are aggressive and have come out of the water to case me away. I just walk away a good distance and keep fishing since I catch very nice fish in this location. Besides I like otters so I enjoy seeing them when I fish. Every place I have seen otters is a great place to fish so I know seeing otters in a body of water in South Florida is a good thing.

Otters are one of my favorite animals I see when fishing. I give them the space they need and enjoy watching them from a distance.

In Japan they keep Otters as pets. They can be very funny at times. Here's a video of a 2 that are kept as pets. He has other videos that are much more funnier.
