I live in So Cal. There are no secret spots! Haha

Many moons ago I lived in a "little" rural town in N. San Diego county. We have the equivalent of farm ponds in the form of grove ponds in the ex avocado capital of the world. These were shared amongst close friends, but never outsiders. There was enough "evidence" in the form of line, lures, trash, etc that we didn't need to spread the word any further.

It just doesn’t bother me to tell.  When I write a fishing report I always give approximate location, conditions, what baits, and how I used them.  There are so many fish out there, plenty for everyone.  We join these sites to share information, we even have guys producing vids to teach others.  Even with all the sharing, some just won’t get it!

I don’t mind telling people I know where I fish or caught fish, but I’m deliberate about not giving out details. Even to trusted friends or family members. It’s very dependent on the size of the lake or river too. Most of the people I know aren’t going to jettison to these spots to bass fish the next day anyways.

If you start revealing your spots that are producing eater size crappies or walleyes, watch out. That will bring in the HORDES here. And unlike bass, they aren’t going to get released either.

There are no secret places around my area, all well documented what bites where. I take all kinds of people fishing, and I don’t care who fishes where. What goes around comes around.

Which is why my panfish lake hasn't been decimated by the bucketheads in the 30 years I've been fishing it.

My photos are mostly just wooded shoreline backgrounds. If you can recognize where I'm at it's because you already fish there and know it well. I know a spot where somebody caught a 50" musky because I could recognize the specific birch trees and rock in the background. But I already knew it was a good spot and fished there before.

My buddies only fish with each other so there's no problem hitting the best spots when we go out together.

My Wife & Big Fish Jeff; who happens to live in Memphis, TN.

You are a better man than me.  If I had a place where I consistently caught brown bass the size you do, I wouldn't even take my wife there, let alone someone from TN.

LOL ~

That's funny.

And I just re-read that and it sounds like my wife lives in TN too !

I'm a crazy person.

My brain might be froze up.

That would have been the clincher for me.

This ^^^^

When there use to be local So. Cali fishing forums, we use to have photochop the background of and decent size bass we caught so as to not have a gazillion people show up the next day. If you look at my avatar, you'll see nothing but clouds in the background, that bass was caught at a very will known city park pond. So yeah, mums the word.

Just because I tell you where I'm fishing does not mean you know what to do when you get there. And it certainly doesn't mean the conditions will be the same.

FYI: If I know what your boat looks like I know where you're fishing.

I have done a complete 180 on this subject. I was always willing to share info with guys about fishing spots until about 6 or 8 years ago.

I was on another site. A guy on that site fished the same river I fished. He was posting photos and stories about some nice musky he had been catching. Another poster asked for details and he refused to share them.  I commented about his refusal to share but he would not share any info with the third poster because he though others would destroy the location. I knew where he was fishing but I was not going to disclose his location.

A few weeks later another posted asked about a different stretch of river for SM. I gave him a lot of details including info on baits, specific locations and how to fish the locations.

A week after that the SM fisherman posted a thank you for the info and a photo of a picnic table completely covered with dead 2 to 3 pound SM. I was ticked. I did not respond but many others on the site did. They felt the way I did and let him know it. Since that time I do not share any specific info and I now agree with the musky fisherman. Many others do not care and will burn or destroy a good spot.

As of right now , I dont have a gold mine bass fishing spot . In my life I have had a lot . Fishing pressure destroys them . I keep the spots secret as long as I can and am always looking for another . I think I'm close to a couple , just havent got them dialed in yet . Bass are relating to a channel on a trolling motor only lake  . Its hard to spend a lot of time graphing , zig zagging back and forth  with a trolling motor only but my instincts tell me  there is a sweet spot there somewhere .

That's 185,000 acres. I dont fish anything over 1000, and plenty of people on here are talking about small ponds. Thats the difference.

I personally think location is #1 most important over bait, color, conditions and other factors. Can't catch them where they aren't.

I share information rather openly. For example, this is an unadulteraded photo of a fish that I caught out of one of my honey holes recently for all the world to see. Doesn't bother me in the least. I'll even drop the coordinates

Latitude: 3° 12' 43.2" South

Longitude: 5° 12' 39.6" West

Good for you.
My experience with sharing on local boards has been much different.

I’ve done it on the local ones for even longer, it ain’t too tricky to stay one step ahead of a fishing hole buzzard

now going to chickamauga is just silly crowded, but it sputters out when fishing gets tougher. Everybody seems to want 10 pounders, they don’t get that big where I live
