I got a great deal on a very lightly used Fuego CT (6.3:1). I'm looking to switch out the gears and was wondering if anyone could tell me if gear sets for a Tatula would work in the Fuego?  I know there are faster gear sets are available for the Fuego, but I want to drop down to 5.9:1 and I know the Tatula was offered in that gearing.

Far as I know - the main gears should be interchangeable between the two. The only difference internally is the T-Wing system - and I don't think the gears are involved other than driving the level-wind pawl...which really shouldn't matter if it's T-Wing or not.

I'm sure Mike at DVT would have the definitive answer.

I don't know the answer, but the difference between those two ratios is going to be barely perceptible, if at all.

What Tatula has 5.9? I have done the swap on mine with "P" gears but those are 5.5 as noted above.

Drive H99-2301 - $13.22

Pinion H99-2301 - $5.64

I ordered direct from Daiwa but this was during January 2020 and even then, I had to wait about 3 months for the pinion gear to be stocked again.

The 5.5 Tatula CT gears drop into the Fuego. Direct fit.

Don't know why I typed 5.9:1, brain fart most likely.

Thanks for the replies

Where did you see them at those prices?

That's what Daiwa USA charged me, shipping was extra.

TTT has them in stock and ships fast as lightning. Ends up being close to a wash with Daiwa's shipping. And the wait times, uhg.

If I understand this correctly, the only thing that separates a Fuego from a Tatula is a few extra bearings. I would assume you could get Tatula gearing and drop it in a Fuego and be ok. You can even get a Tatula Elite long cast spool and drop it in a CT.

T Wing is the main difference. But yeah you can swap gears and spools.
