As a fisherman sleep is important to me.  I fish often.  Spring summer, I’m known to have my truck idling out of my hood at 3:30 to catch the purple skies of morning on some distant lake.  I load my kayak and back my truck up against my garage door the evening before. Nobody can slide my kayak out to steal it ( I have a shell on my truck bed). Make coffee, load my fishing rods and kiss my wife goodbye. (Funny truth - 100% she will whisper, “the fish aren’t gonna catch themselves “ when I sneak that kiss)

I can fall asleep almost anytime. My buddy will yawn and say he went to bed at 11.  Me:  I fell asleep at 7 pm. Lights out.

bowhunting was tougher with the back to back days. Sore muscles and grit makes sleeping more difficult.  But I’ll step away from a campfire and sleep before anyone else.

my siblings are vampires. :)

I hit the hay at 9:00 PM on tournament Fridays and get up at 3:00 AM to get my act together and go to the ramp.

Oherwise, my body clock has me up at 5:30 AM or 6:00 AM every day and it puts me down around 9:30 PM to 10:00 PM every night.

As an older fellow, I'm early to bed early to rise and consistently fall asleep in under a minute.

Never need an alarm clock, always on the water at daylight in the warm months.

I stay up late and wake up later in the winter months.

Come spring it’s early to bed and early to rise to get that sunrise bite.

I have very little trouble falling asleep. Back when I was heavier and had sleep apnea I would fall alseep watching a movie and take lots of short naps during the day. Now that I have my weight under control I know what a good nights sleep feels like.

I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat and sleep soundly all night. Go to bed fairly early and get up early, especially on fishing days. My poor wife on the other hand has a terrible time falling and staying asleep. Seriously, I feel sorry for her. She recently got a CPAP. I'm praying that it works for her.

Sorry for getting off topic.

My wife wakes up at 2am every night.  She will burn two hours watching videos that pertain to her work. Nursing.  Then doze off until morning.  She says it sometimes annoys her that I am dead to the world next to her. :)

for the Record.  After a tough arduous fishing day. I slept 9 hours straight last night. I feel so good.

I like to be on the water just as I can make out where I am, about an hour before sunrise. As it takes me 30 minutes to get out of the house, the earliest I get up is about 03:30. Bed time doesn't really change though, I'm used to crashing about 9 regardless of when I'm getting up.

My wife can fall asleep mid sentence. I’ve always envied that. Me, on the other hand I lay there toss and turn, my mind starts racing thinking about totally irrelevant stuff, it drives me insane! I wake up almost every morning thinking about irrelevant stuff completely different than the irrelevant stuff I was thinking about the night before and I usually wake up with a song in my head which is usually a song I haven’t heard in years!

I think I have a few wires crossed upstairs. ?

My wife recently got a CPAP after needing one for years. It has helped somewhat but she has developed a habit of waking up at 2-3 am everyday and not going back to sleep. Her Mom and Dad had to be up at early hours for their jobs. The whole family are EARLY risers.

I also wake up with a song in my head, totally random songs. I thought I was the only one ?

Sleeping has never been an issue for me.

Like you, I prep all my equipment, boat and vehicle for the next day of fishing. Daddy always said a good fisherman doesn't get up at dawn...he gets up way before dawn and is on the water at dawn.?

To give you an example of how crazy and random it is, about a month ago it was a song from a Christmas play I was in, in the third or fourth grade…..that was 30 years ago!

Unfortunately I have a 3 year old kid that and a Labrador that love to sleep or stay awake whenever they want to, so my sleep is often interrupted. I try to be in bed by 10 because I am usually required to be up around 6, so that will give me about 8 hours.

During the summer I like to be fishing within 30 minutes of sunrise. If it’s going to be sunny and hot, I can’t take much of that heat so sometimes I don’t even go at all. Clouds and/or rain is my friend in midsummer.

I envy all of you that can fall asleep in under a 10 mins. About 9 years ago I got lucky and developed a sleeping disorder. If I go to bed at midnight, I lay awake until about 2 or 2:30 am, then in about 2 to 3 hours, it's off to the bathroom. I get back to sleep pretty quick, but then my Carpal tunnel kicks in, my hands burn like crazy, so now I'm awake until it goes way, usually about 30 mins.

I can't remember the last time I had even 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Maybe I should look into some Meds..haha And yes, I've seen a Doctor, I get these meds, not gonna mention the name, but it's not all that strong or habit forming.

If you have trouble sleeping, see a Doctor.

After so many years of getting up at 5:00, I can't sleep in even if I try. I'm out by 10 most nights, and still up by 5 or 530 every day.
