Super User Choporoz Posted February 9, 2022 Super User Posted February 9, 2022 I have Bill Lewis floaters, mostly silver and blue. My wife likes them because she doesn't want to mess with grass on traps. I like them when distance between top of grass and surface is tight. I now use chatterbait most of the time, but there are times....especially mid day, mid summer....when a blue-silver trap run over weeds, near the surface is exactly what they want. 5 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 9, 2022 Global Moderator Posted February 9, 2022 If you have submerged weeds that only have a few feet between them and the surface, they can be really good. 3 Quote

Super User Deleted account Posted February 10, 2022 Super User Posted February 10, 2022 I have a couple, haven't fished them in ages. I prefer a shallow crank or wake bait. 2 Quote
PressuredFishing Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 Awesome info! Will check out the reccomendations, thanks for the input much appreciated. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 10, 2022 Super User Posted February 10, 2022 Used to use them a lot. Loved them in water with laydowns. Smash the crank in a laydown, kill the retrieve and let them float up high enough to retrieve into the next obstruction. 2 Quote

Hybrid jerkbait/lipless. They work as advertised, but don't expect to get more than maybe 3' depth on your retrieve. 1 Quote

The land of grass-filled shallow lakes and eagle sized mosquitos. ?? 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 I have several. Not really even sure where I got them...lol. I have never thrown one Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted February 13, 2022 Super User Posted February 13, 2022 I heard of them but I can’t imagine why I would use one over a Rapala floating minnow. Quote
AManWearingAHat Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 I haven't seen floating rattle traps in forever. Quote

I’ll give it a shot and fish it over some grass I guess. 1 Quote
