Hi y'all! I recently purchased a bunch of Dobyn's Extreme Football Jigs that were on a blowout sales for a $1 each. These jigs look great. However, they use an EWG hook vs a J bend hook that I'm used to. Anyways, I wanted to get your guys' opinion on EWG hooks on jigs. Based on your experience, how's the hook-up ratio on jigs with EWG hooks? Does it matter?

On my first trip to Clear Lake, I purchased several football head jigs with the EWG hook. They were knew to me.  I still have a few and they are very similar to the Dobyns model. My and my partners hook up ratio was outstanding. I couldn’t have been more please.  My experience with all Dobyns tackle has been nothing but positive.

Dobyns Extreme football jigs use a EWG hook, the original Dobyns football jigs used Gamakatsu #604 round hook.

I prefer the round bend hook.

Thanks for the replies y'all. I guess there really isn't a consensus on this matter and probably comes down to personal preference.

My experiencecwith 30deg mustad ewg is ive missed alot swimming a jig, but using it on the bottom it is good as long as i dont overswing. The swimjig thing could just be me though as well.

I don’t mind EWG hooks on jigs. I make my own poison tails and they work pretty good .

I’ve never cared for them at all on a t-rig with the exception of t-rigging a tube.
