CANEY LAKE
In the 1990s, Greg Wiggin's record capped a string of monster bass taken from Caney Lake, a 5,000-acre impoundment near Chatham. From the beginning, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries stocked Florida largemouths and intensively managed the lake to produce giant bass.

As a result, for two decades, the lake dominated the Louisiana record book, and currently has contributed six to the Louisiana Top 10. The smallest weighed 15.15 pounds. However, the most recent 15-pounder hit the scales in 1996.

I saw an instagram post from mark Daniels that said he was sad he wasn’t going to fish caney, not sure why he’s not

I'm guessing they are fishing Caney for the knockout round then going somewhere else for the final round.  Mark won his group so he skips the knockout round.  I feel sorry for him.:)

Right at 30 minutes left in Qualifying – Day 2 - Group B - Period 3

Top spot looks locked up by The Milkman.

But there's plenty of drama at that 20th spot cut line.

Going down to the wire.

Congrats to the anglers above the cut.

Fun to watch.

Some Hammers will be wetting a line Tomorrow

This is not a complaint by any means. But I kind of got wore out hearing them talk about how tough the fishing was. Like, NO JOKE!!! You are on the backside of a winter storm and it's going to be tough. Just put your head down and try to figure it out. It seemed as though a lot of them just kept trying the same thing (that wasn't working) and that was only the cameras in boats that were catching a few. I can't imagine how discouraged the guys catching nothing were. Some of them acted like I would out there, lost!!!!! LOL

I’ve fished 2 out of the 3 but never fished bussey. I’d love to see them get thrown on chicot in ville platte just to know what I’m always doing wrong there ?

I'm not an mlf fan whatsoever but you're 100% right, this could be interesting. We're having warm days and cold nights right now. The first month that Bussey was reopened, there were two ten pounders caught. To my knowledge they were released. There are some big ones in there. I live a little north of there in AR.

It's nice to see what happens when the best in the world don't fish at the absolute best times of the year.

Seems like the pro's whine a little more when the going gets tough.

I golfed with a guy once and he was melting down over the cut of the rough, the type of grass they used on the greens and the moron who placed every pin on a break

He did all this on his way to shooting 2 over par

Sometimes when you're near the top the expectations are also at the top

(not a personal observation as i'm too far down to see up there)

so when you dont do as well as you expected, you whine like no tomorrow and find something to blame
