Super User Tennessee Boy Posted February 7, 2022 Super User Posted February 7, 2022 Am I the only person watching the BPT tournament? They're struggling. I'm enjoying watching the best being challenged by tough conditions. Fishing is not suppose to be easy all the time. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 7, 2022 Super User Posted February 7, 2022 I'm watching ~ Nice casting exhibition so far. A-Jay 1 1 Quote
EWREX Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 i've had it playing in the background on my computer at work. it's been a snooze fest so far. might be even worse when they move to a new lake after this set of rounds 1 Quote
GReb Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Considering the cold front we just come through the area, I’m surprised they’ve caught as many as they have. The bite should improve each day 1 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 7, 2022 Super User Posted February 7, 2022 I went to the lake yesterday, mainly to make sure the boat was operating properly and everything was working. Decided to fish a for a little bit since I was out there. I promise they are doing better than I did. Technically, Dave Lefebre and I would be tied. 5 Quote
IrishJig Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Yep, I'm watching. The tough bite is why MLF can still be fun to watch even on tough days. The ones that can figure out how to get more than 5 in the boat are rewarded. 2 Quote
BassNJake Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 The weights should start to improve with the water warming a little this afternoon 1 Quote

To me, that's what would make fishing for a living tough to do. Some days you just can't figure them out. I get frustrated when I'm just fishing for fun and can't make it happen. I imagine the stress is pretty high level when that is your job. 3 Quote
EWREX Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 me sitting on the couch making fun of all the guys who can't catch one fish while i get skunked half the time i go out 2 10 Quote

It hurts bad enough to loose a big fish. I can imagine also loosing 10s of thousands of dollars when you loose a fish. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 7, 2022 Super User Posted February 7, 2022 The FFS up to this point today hadn't really been a factor. Until Now - Edwin Evers with a 5 lb Tank. A-Jay 1 Quote

They were talking today about the potential to catch a giant there. Something along the lines of 6 of the biggest 10 bass ever caught in La. were from there and 4 are over 15. Those numbers probably aren't exact, but you get the idea. 3 Quote
InfantryMP Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 MDJ put in some work! I am glad to see him on top right now. He is due for a good finish. 3 Quote

EWREX Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 the fish catching may be slow, but david dudley is a riot 2 Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 8, 2022 Super User Posted February 8, 2022 This is from the Game and Fish Website CANEY LAKE In the 1990s, Greg Wiggin's record capped a string of monster bass taken from Caney Lake, a 5,000-acre impoundment near Chatham. From the beginning, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries stocked Florida largemouths and intensively managed the lake to produce giant bass. As a result, for two decades, the lake dominated the Louisiana record book, and currently has contributed six to the Louisiana Top 10. The smallest weighed 15.15 pounds. However, the most recent 15-pounder hit the scales in 1996. 2 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted February 8, 2022 Super User Posted February 8, 2022 Been watching this past few days ~ Have to admit that I'm mostly tired of hearing every angler complain about how tough the bite is. Just fish. A-Jay 5 Quote

A-Jay haha well... i enjoy it, because it makes me feel better every time i go fishing and its tough, i now know the pros struggle too.... no matter if you are the top guy in the nation, you can't ALWAYS go out and rail em. Winter seems to always be the toughest, and they are just on the backside of winter with cold stained water, the conditions that most people say are the toughest, and sure enough, they are struggling. I do think the lake size for this field is a bit small. I know they are moving lakes for different rounds, but still... there just isn't enough water to hold a lot of these guys. They chose LA instead of FL, maybe FL has some bigger lakes, etc. 2 Quote
