18 mph winds predicted.  The GOOD was they never materialized.  Slight breeze all day.  I dare say “ tranquil” almost. The BAD thing, we strategically planned our route to fish with the wind in mind.  We made out long hauls and headed back to closer and safer harbors for the wind prediction of 11:00 am.  We should have stayed with better waters longer. The main lake body. UGLY.  I got a 3.something fatty bass right from the get go.  And with a crank bait - which I am not confident at all with.  It was perfect.  I could feel the crank tapping on rock tops , then I got the fake-hits of it kissing the tops of trees.   Then BLAM!   Fish on. And that was all.  8 more hours of fruitless fishing.  My friend got 4 smaller fish with his Neko.  I got cocky and tried other things since I was on the board.  So ugly.  One point I kinda quit fishing hoping our third friend would score a bite.  He skunked. I would back off and let him have first crack at our best guesses.

brutal. I’m tired.  No real food, and I didn’t drink enough water.  Uugglee!  But fun. We had gut wrenching laughs.

I really never eat while fishing, but water is a given. You can get dehydrated quickly in the sun and wind.

Hey! At least you caught one fish and avoided the skunkaroo!

Not asking for details if you have any "secret" spots, but what part of the lake did you find the tops of trees with the water so low in a natural lake? I've fished that lake a time or two most years the past 30+ years and never found tree tops anywhere. Always looking to find new spots!

Don't give up on the lake just yet... if the weather is decent go back for the new moon in April/May for some potentially action.

Oh. I’ll be there April - may.  It’s fire then.

Sorry. I may have oversold the expression “trees”.  Bushes may be more accurate.   I saw them a last year when water was clearer, so I knew the general location.  I can find them usually.
