Super User Spankey Posted February 9, 2022 Super User Posted February 9, 2022 I get to be a head case when we start loosing sun light but it is coming back stronger every day now. I didn’t get the blues real bad this year. Fished some winter trout but not having a stellar winter at it. Usually is pretty decent off-season for them. Local fishing for them. Got some hunting in. Have stuff at home to work on all the time. Have gotten a few of those items done. Then there’s shooting sporting clays and trap. That always turns that frown upside down. Temps don’t bother me too bad, the wind is the killer. Quote

They ride a train to Toledo and someone picks them up at the station. I didn’t know that was still a thing!! when I said north I should’ve said mid west, I was imagining those small round lakes full of lily pads My mother and my little brother live just north of Syracuse, they have rode the train to the Cleveland station once and I picked them up there! haha What a small world! 1 Quote

I’m not 100% sure it goes to Toledo, maybe they get picked up in Cleveland. I just know Toledo is the only large city anywhere near my in-laws homeplace You and I might be related hahahaha Quote

Then again, the water I fish is being discharged from the bottom of 200 foot deep reservoirs. I think those small natural lakes up north warm up a lot quicker than my raging tail waters Cayuga Lake where I fish a lot is only less than 40 miles long, and about 2 miles wide at the widest point. But, the max depth is 425 feet. It never really warms up much if you get down a few feet. 1 Quote

Those NY lakes have to stay cold at the bottom to keep the Loch Ness style monsters happy and in the darkness of 400 feet! we have one lake that’s 440 feet, it’s across the NC border but up in the smokies, Fontana lake. Big trout love the cold water below the dam. 3 Quote
