Super User gim Posted February 5, 2022 Super User Posted February 5, 2022 What’s your favorite event or events? I’m more of a summer Olympics guy because of the United States dominance in the medal count but the winter ones will have to do at this time. Plus there’s 15 athletes specifically from Minnesota competing. I like the speed skating short track. 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted February 5, 2022 Super User Posted February 5, 2022 Speed skating and ski jumping. I also prefer summer games over winter. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted February 5, 2022 Super User Posted February 5, 2022 If I was to watch anything...it'd be the Biathlon...mainly because that's how I hunted rabbit in the winter up in the Bemidji, MN area...cross-country skis and my Savage 6A .22 rifle. My hunting partner was on snow-shoes with his Ruger 10-22. 1 Quote
Jmilburn76 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 I like hockey, snowboarding and biathlon. Go Team USA! 2 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted February 5, 2022 Super User Posted February 5, 2022 In my next life I want to come back as a Swedish women's cross country skiing coach... 1 2 Quote
Finessegenics Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Hockey but for the sake of discussion im not gonna count that one. The half pipe for both skiing and snowboarding is really cool. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 6, 2022 Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2022 I watched hockey for about 20 seconds then switched over to bobs burgers 1 1 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 My 1 year old grand baby had the Wuhan virus for 36 hours. My 5 and 8 year olds with two shots both had mild cases Tonight my daughter, both shots and the booster, tested positive. I am not watching the Genocide Olympics. 1 1 1 Quote
Trox Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 I have no motivation to watch it, so I'm depending on you guys for updates. I'll start holding my breath now. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 Not going to watch this years Winter Olympics and will wait for it to be hosted in a better place. With that said I want our US Olympic Athletes to win as many medals as possible. I remember the USA won the most Gold Medals in the last Summer Olympics. 1 Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 There's a lot of New England connections, not to mention a bunch American athletes who had to make a decision to live out a dream despite the venue. I like Olympic hockey, ski jump, biathalon and speed skating. While I don't usually binge watch, I will support the American Olympians and watch when I can, read as much as I can. 2 Quote

That’s exactly how I feel too. They are there representing our country on the worlds stage so they will receive my unwavering support. Wouldn’t bother me if China and Russia finished in poor shape with the medal count either. 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 Nothing. I don't even understand the scoring. I only watch during the commercial times for another show I may be watching on TV. Otherwise, I am not interested. 2 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 I will watch most any Olympic event, particularly if it a medal game/round/heat. Some random thoughts after a few hours watching yesterday -Loved the way all the other competitors in women's snowboard slopestyle celebrated the winner's fantastic run -i thought the ROC women's hockey team was playing some kind of rope-a-dope strategy....'let's let the Americans have the puck all game and maybe they'll get tired' -Speaking of ROC...wth? The Russians can't participate because they cheat, but all their athletes can compete....so long as we don't acknowledge that the R in ROC stand for Russian. Huh??? -In an event with a measurable, objective, score....why do they toss in subjective judging of style points? Ski jump seems pretty straightforward....jump farthest...win. Why have style as part of the scoring? -Short track mixed relay skating is insane -I like watching cross country events...but only the last 5 minutes of a race....go ahead and fast forward through the first 90 minutes, please. I’ve tried many times, I don’t hate it. We have a pretty decent atmosphere at the local minor league team, the Knoxville ice bears, but it’s not a cheap date night! I did learn from my in laws that it’s a lot easier to watch if you don’t try to concentrate on the puck, just watch the players instead and they will tell the story 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 My dad was a hockey player from MN and I tried for years to really get into it. Enjoyed going to college and minor league games, but watching on TV 40-50 years ago on 19 inch tube broadcast television was near impossible. Slightly different experience on a 70" HDTV. American women sure look impressive so far. Another random thought....the woman doing color for curling is incredibly awful...no understanding at all how to offer analysis to someone like me who doesn't have a clue about the sport. The play by play guy keeps trying to draw something useful out of her, but she hasn't decided to add any value yet...unless you are a curling fanatic 1 Quote
