Bad batch?  No, it's just FC.  It has no significant advantage over mono.  And it has many disadvantages.  But it has a lot of "believers."

This ^^^ rarely use floro unless I really want the thinner diameter, however all this is thrown out the window for trout and carp, I have even seen line shadows spook trout easily, hundreds of times, especially in shallow clear water

Braid and Mono I'm a Sufix guy - though I use Elite instead of Siege...still a great line.

I switched over to Sufix Elite for Freshwater Bass fishing a few seasons ago for my Mono needs (after trying almost everything else EG: Trilene, Stren, P-Line, Maxima, Izorline, etc) and don't ever see myself going back to any of the other brands.

Monofilament line are basically blends of Nylon that is susceptible to thermosetting from very hot temps over 105f and freezing temps below 32f.

If the spooled line was stored in hi/low temps cycles or sunlight, the degrades. It could be the line was stored in a warehouse for a few years before it’s purchased. Most spools have date codes, I would check the spool age.

I am definitely at the point of finding a new mono for leaders and/or spooling. Im going to have to do someresearch. Obviously memory is inherant to mono, but i value something with enough sensitivity for jigs and enough stretch for cranks would be ideal as most of my fishing these days involves traveling light and wading rivers. And lower diameter to poundage. I typically like 2 spools. One in 8lb for spinning and one in 12lb for baitcasting. I understand im asking alot but thats what i need for my style.

I hear a lot of good things about maxima for lighter mono needs. It's what I use, I just don't fish light mono much at all, so I can't really opine on whether it is great or not, seems fine and it's good enough to not look for something else.

Ive been wondering if it is a local vendor thing based on what you are saying. Pretty much the only places around here to buy line in store are wal mart or Farm and fleet (which is a farm supply/ outdoors type store) ill have to pick some up at a cabelas or off amazon and see if i have the same issues.

Tackle Warehouse keeps their suppliers honest!

I heard a saltwater guy one time say you could heat it up somehow and it goes limp. I just get stuck on the bottom of the river on a long cast and pull the coils out of it

Get a small tupperware and fill it with hot water and then poke holes above the water line and stick a pencil through and place your spool on while you are spooling up so the bottom half or so of the spool is resting in the water and you will spool up with significantly less memory. Might want to do this outside, the water can splash as you reel.

Disclaimer : I am not liable if your wife makes you sleep on the couch for poking holes in her favorite tupperware.

A few thoughts. First, some of this mono might be pretty old due to supply chain issues. I'm only speculating, but it might explain a lot,

The second thing worth noting is I never had any worse memory issues than when I tried Fluoroclear.
