cyclops2 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 It can usually slowly cut all the weeds when a fish runs into the weeds. It also casts very light lures well. 1 Quote
ironbjorn Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 I wouldn't want 6# anything with a bass in weeds. 5 Quote

Mat_ski Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 I use 8lb braid on spinning gear for river smallies almost exclusively. For weeds and slop it would be totally outclassed. Instead I am bringing the setups with 4 strand 30lb and up braid. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 5, 2022 Super User Posted February 5, 2022 The weeds in New Jersey and New York must be quiet different than the weeds in Oklahoma. 1 Quote

Weeds are often overwhelming, sometimes nearly impossibly dense affairs in this part of the country. @cyclops2 is posting during happy hour methinks. Quote

After fishing just the edges and tops last year I picked up a big kids rod to drop 3/4-1 1/2 oz down through it. It gets thick here, especially the pads. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted February 5, 2022 Super User Posted February 5, 2022 I use 8/1 for vertical jigging because of the feel over other lines. Vegetation is not a concern for me as we don’t have any. Quote
cyclops2 Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 I have a 2nd braided rod with 60# braided when I am too close to the weed. With big bass & pike I like to troll a lot in minimum weed areas with the 6#. I like to cast a lot so I can troll with the 60# & cast & troll with the 6# also. Quote
