N.Y. Yankee Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 What do you like to always have with you when fishing that you probably did not buy at a tackle store? My list? Good needle-nosed pliers, good pair of side cutters, an old dish towel, sun hat, sun glasses, hemostat, Mora Companion stainless steel knife, small scissors for cutting line, Bic lighter, small stick of hot-melt glue, Stanley 3-foot keychain-type tape measure, and of course, I always have a Leatherman tool and folding knife on me. I find all of these tools helpful at some point during a fishing trip. Quote

Super User MN Fisher Posted February 4, 2022 Super User Posted February 4, 2022 My tablet - I don't have maps on my sonar, so I run Navionics on the 8" Samsung Galaxy which was in a clamp mount on the canoe - still deciding on how I'll mount it in the F-9. 2 Quote

Super User gim Posted February 4, 2022 Super User Posted February 4, 2022 I'd be willing to bet that most boats were not bought at a tackle store. They were bought at a dealer or from a private owner. I have a Beckman muskie net that I inherited from my Grandfather before he died of cancer in 2012. I'm sure initially it came from a tackle shop or retailer, but I received it directly from him. 1 Quote

We fish with crab, clam, bunker, and other messy baits, so the middle finger knuckle is the only way to go if you don't want a sloppy mess. 1 Quote

PressuredFishing Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 Nail clippers and pliers, buying "fishing branded" versions of these run 3x more, plus I'm sure we can all admit we loose them frequently Quote

Nicely Done ~ The correct size & type of fuses and shear pins are a Total Trip Saver when we have them. And pretty much a trip killer when we don't. You Da man ! A-Jay 2 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 4, 2022 Global Moderator Posted February 4, 2022 I usually have a machete, an axe, a thumping stick (old axe handle or dogwood branch) and good walking shoes within reach. The machete and axe are for clearing vegetation, or of course the dreaded pine tree across the road. The thumping stick is for miscellaneous reasons, self defense and fish euthanasia. The walking shoes are for when/if something won’t start. I need to add some waterproof matches or a bic lighter to the list I also have a tool box full of basic wrenches and screwdrivers, lots of electrical tape, and the always handy vice grips Quote
