You can choose between light, moderate, strong, and extra strong. What line is best for jig fishing? Some prefer strong line, others prefer extra strong line. One company's strong line is 12 lb test. Another companies strong line is 16 lb test. It would be confusing. That's why I like to pick up a rod and see things like "jig" or "Frog" printed on them. ? 2 Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted February 4, 2022 Super User Posted February 4, 2022 I use 7-6 heavy extra fast BPS JM signature series in deep thick weeds for trig and jigs. I use 7-3 heavy fast and 7-0 heavy fast in lighter cover.they are both Dobyns so they are between a stiff heavy and a MH. Quote

Original question, I like X-fast, unless you're using something in very heavy cover, then I like a mod-fast. I want that XH power spread out across the whole blank when fishing like that. Yup, not all about action, it's about the combination of power and action that best fits the technique, cover, lure weights, and probably more. Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 4, 2022 Super User Posted February 4, 2022 For the sake of debate the past decade the gold standard of JWR (jig & worm rod) was G.Loomis NRX series, the decade before was G.Loomis GLX. NRX changed the way I looked at action. GLX was traditional Fast action where the upper flexed with less force down from the tip about 1/4th the rod length in front of the reel. NRX Fast action slightly flexed the upper section of the rod with light force a new dynamic. Rod builders had to catch up by offering XFast actions however the upper 1/8 flexed more the traditional Fast action rod a different dynamic but not the same as NRX. Lamiglas came out with a nearly identical NRX blank G450NG+. The was 3M Nano resign was key and the exclusive rights was purchased and no longer available to general rod building market. There is more to a good JWR then Fast or XFast action in combination to power ratings. Mag powers (1/2 power increase) and XFast actions like everything else in rods comes down to personal preference with subjectivity. Today bass anglers have a wide range of excellent strong light weight to power ration rods to choose from. Tom 2 Quote

They do with lure weight rating. Quote
