Just wanted to get some opinions when it comes to what rod actions everyone likes. Thinking about another couple of additions to the arsenal. I would like something for flipping docks… which I have recently started doing a lot more of since I’ve started traveling more for tournaments and I like to flip. So here’s my thoughts, and I’m wondering how y’all feel about this…. I know every manufacturer is different than the next, and even different models with the same action are different under the same manufacturer, but let’s say we’re going by the good ole pictogram that explains rod action. I personally like an “XF” when I’m throwing a jig but more of a “fast” action with a T-rig. What do y’all think? What rods do you like? Still looking at options and I wanted to hear y'all's input before I pull the trigger.

I'm the opposite ...I like a fast with a jig and an extra fast with a Texas rig. Not sure why but it just feels right to me. That said I've thrown both on both successfully so i suppose it doesnt really matter much to me.

Ditto - opposite here, too. I prefer a fast with a hint of moderate involved for jig fishing, like the Loomis MBR (Mag Bass taper). For TR worms, I can live with either traditional F or XF actions.

I’ve heard a lot of the opposite and a lot of agreement from my little group of fishing buddies lol.

I don’t like that slack that I get when I’m picking up a T-rig and letting it fall. A jig is all one piece, but the T-rig can have that snap when you use that technique. I get a ton of bites on the fall and I like to have as tight a line as possible without affecting the action.

im picking knits here but i prefer a fast for jigs and xf for texas rigs but ill use a fast also. the reason i want a little more tip for jigs is with the heavy jig and the weight stationary when the fish jump and shake their head they seem to throw that heavy weight a little easier with the stiffer tip.

I like F for both. I just prefer the way they cast and load when fighting fish. No right or wrong, just personal preference.

Edit to add: I fish both on straight braid. I also like a stout Mod Fast in heavy cover. A rod that loads deep into the blank excels at moving fish out of heavy cover. Works like a catapult. I have a 7'10" SLX Heavy MF that throws 2 pounders over the boat like no other.

Medium Heavy X-Fast for both

My current worm rod is a Powell Inferno MH X-Fast while my jig rod is a Dawia Tatula MH X-Fast.

Medium heavy is supposed to be directly between medium & heavy. My Inferno leans slightly towards medium while the Tatula leans more towards heavy.

Texas Rigs tend to use "lighter" wire for hooks while jig hooks tend to be thicker.

I don’t have the luxury of having one for each. I like an XF for all bottom contact presentations regardless of what it is.
I can tell what’s happening easier and when they get stuck, they’re stuck with less “delay”
