newapti5 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 If you're talking about ceramic bearing upgrades, they mostly allow you to cast with less effort. The improvement on casting distance is small. If you're casting light lures, the improvement may be more significant. Also, they tend to make your reel less smooth due to the hardness of ceramic balls. Those reels you mentioned are good reels, I would keep using them if they're still functioning properly. If you really want to upgrade them, get them reels with "MGL." You will see some casting distance improvement if that's what you're after. Quote
The Bassman Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Just soak the stock bearings in some solvent ( I use mineral spirits). Spin and dry, a drop or two of whatever your favorite oil is and you're all set. I've got a CU-100B that I fixed up to my liking that keeps on kicking. 1 Quote

Im surprised nobody has snatched it up! I have a bunch of CU E's and the one CI E I have, I threw a CU 200E handle and spool on it. Love the larger Power Grip knobs. Maybe give the thread a bump since its the middle of winter. Idle hands and such... Quote

I also swapped out the stock spool for a CH50 mg one that weighs under 12 g. Quote
