Hello hello, I have a question that I guess can have different answers but I wanna see.  What are peoples thoughts on MLF v BASS? And why does it seem like a lot of pros are switching to Yamaha? I feel pretty behind ?

Congrats to Michael Neal though, he’s an absolute stud!

Why does it have to be MLF vs BASS? Why can't someone enjoy both? For the life of me I can't figure out why some people have drawn a line in the sand and chose to be ride or die with one trail while totally admonishing the other.

Why Yamaha? Because Kawasaki doesn't make outboards. LOL

Bradley is probably a spy sent from a competing bass fishing website to sow seeds of dissent in the BR community and bring us down from the inside! ?

With that Said, I watch BASS mostly just because its what I'm used too, I will watch an MLF event if I happen to notice its on, but I don't follow it as closely as I follow BASS.

LOL. Nissan/Tohatsu will put any logo on their motors you want. My '03 Mercury f225, was a Yamaha f225 with a paint job. A buddy with a Yammi and I would switch cowlings some mornings, just because.

I prefer the largest 5 fish format if I’m watching tournament coverage

I prefer B.A.S.S., but I’ll watch either one. I heard Fat Cat Newton talking about a new league but can’t remember what it was called. I will probably watch that one too.

As a consumer I like MLF’s structure, production, and content better. I watch both though.

My main gripe with BASS is that by the final day one or two guys have separated themselves from the field. 10 guys are fishing but the guy in 10th has no shot.

That was always my thoughts as well. Now that the MLF Pro Circuit decided to zero the weights going into the final day, people are complaining about that already. LOL

I enjoy watching both and my interest level usually has to do with what lake they are fishing.  I think the MLF format is a little more entertaining.  The B.A.S.S. format is a little better test of skill.

That's an easy question.  The pros go where the sponsorship dollars are.

Yeah makes sense, and interesting.  I’ve been seeing lots of people saying it’s based off performance but I believe that 100% ?

Interesting, I don’t really see a point.  I mean they’re both doing the same thing, catching bass lmao.  All I know is it’ll definitely feel good to win a pro tour, and it’ll feel good to win a classic.

The only “tour event” I’ll watch is the Heavy Hitters format.
However, without looking it up I can’t tell you which organization runs it.

I really don’t care either.

Not really. Sure, the approach will be different, and may favor different anglers, but in the end it's about figuring out how to catch them on a given day(s), and then going out and doing it.

to be fair, MLF has a 5 bass limit series (tackle warehouse pro circuit), which their first event was just completed. as for their more known format of catch weigh and release as many bass as you can, i am not the biggest fan, but it doesn't bother me either. competition within a certain industry is always good for that given industry.

i actually kind of liked the reset. i'd be open to seeing how that would work in BASS

I prefer MLF.

I like the rules package better.  Makes for a more interesting tournament start to finish.  You can only make up so much ground in a 5 fish format, so a lot of times the suspense is gone before a tournament ends.

As a viewer, the MLF TV shows and live streaming are better, but BASS is catching up.

Hello,

I like them both, watch both of them, follow both of them, subscribe to both too.  I think the two leagues has bring coverage of more anglers which is always great.  I follow alot of guys in both leagues, and learn about anglers all the time, don't matter where they fish.  I guess I am just a fan of the sport.  With that said, I have known BASS the longest and tend to check in on them first.

MLF is on my streaming service more.  The FRNDLY app has more MLF coverage and just about zero BASS, which sucks.  MLF is on sportsmans channel and fishing network, I can only see BASS on Foxsports1, I don't have FoxSports2 and I wont pay extra for it... that cuts into my fishing gear fund.

I like them both.  I don't really understand why some treat it like a competition or like a hated sports rival.  It's an opportunity for us to see more fishing content which I'm all for.

A lot of it stems from the anglers themselves. Some stones were hurled after the big split in ‘19, most famously the wolves/sheep comment…….

I have no use for any money fishermen / woman. They yank as hard as possible with 60# line. To rip jaw muscles & tendons.  Then yank the 5# bass out of the water as it bangs into the boat. Then lift it by the lower jaw. Twisting the jaw as far open as he can to save time. Or the other lift out of the water.  Pinch squash the gills closed tightly to remove the lure.

But  But   we never see any dead bass floating,   You do not have any big catfish or otters either.

In all honesty.  I believe in my area Pollution & invasives are more destructive.  Without good water and weeds.  There is no gamefish repopulation  possible.

What was this about?

When they formed the new tour, one angler said he would rather be beaten by wolves on the BPT than win against sheep on BASS. It didn’t sit well with some from BASS, of course they all end up fishing against each other in opens or MLFLW big 5 tourneys and the sheep finished ahead of that wolf a few times

for the record, this has only been discussed on here a few dozen times and typically ends in the thread being locked, so please keep it civil
