I knew there was a lighter side to fishing.   I enjoy joking about it.    ?

I keep a spreadsheet for all my fishing stuff, it's helpful for maintaining stock of the baits I have, and of any spare parts (rings/hooks especially) and it can also serve as a reference guide for depths, and which hooks/rings are best on which baits while your out fishing and break a point or whatever. I do a tab for each category, and even my stuff for trout, panfish etc are kept in there. As others have mentioned it's also very helpful for not buying stuff you already have.

I retired from spreadsheets the day I received a solid B in my college computer class. Haven’t looked back since

It's not that serious. I've always been of the mind that when you start forgetting what baits and terminal tackle you have, what rods and reels you have and what their intended purpose is, and when you can't remember what line is on your setup, you've got a self made and unnecessary problem.

For me, on the lures/plastics especially, I can look at the spreadsheet when I'm tagging items to buy and be assured that I'm not buying something I already have.

And this is why I need to do this.

I remember losing a 5XD in Black Back/Chartreuse to a pike on one of my last times out this fall. So I ordered 2 more in one of my TW Black Friday orders. Come to find out I already have 2 hanging on my peg board, and 2 more in in a cardboard box with other tackle that I ordered who knows when. ?‍♂️

Yup it’s called buying way to much crap over 20 years lol. Thankfully due to a small boat my rod and reel collection is rather small. With 2 in the boat I max out at space for 7 combos. Heck I fish 90+ days on either the river or lake and I still don’t lose stuff. With plastics I fish them till they just about fall off the hook, not a good way to get rid of baits. Or buying a couple hundred Producto tourney grubs for Ned rigging that work great but last like Z man stuff for me. Will take a while to use those up.

In my case it's called memory issues...not due to age - other factors. I need to 'make lists' so I don't forget things.
