Mbirdsley Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Rods done !!! It is a 7ft mh rain shadow RX6 fast action bait casting rod that I will use to throw bass jigs from 1/2-1 oz ( realistically probably only 3/4 of an oz). I could also probably throw frogs on it . Nothing fancy with the wraps just blue with silver highlights. I’ve got some $150-$200 rods and this one is definitely already one of the best rods I have. Feels great in my hands. It was done before. However, I had to strip the last 3 guides along with epoxy because, I had applied way to much towards the tip. I lost the decal to put on the rod. Trying to contact the mfg to get another. Definitely one of the most frustrating and rewarding things I’ve built/assembled/put together. It’s not perfect there are some things I need to get better at 16 Quote

I didn’t realize that it would match my slx reel until half way through. I may buy another slx to put on this rod. If I went that route I want one of the better slx reels, may even look at the DC version Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Looks good. The Rx6 is a good choice for a first build. A good quality blank , affordable enough to not stress over being your first crack at it. 1 Quote
Bass Junke Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Nice job! I built my first rod on the RX6 blank. I built a drop shot rod though, spinning. Yours looks nicer than mine. Double footed guides all the way to the tip? Zowie, that's a lot of work. 1 Quote

My 7ft 4 heavy bass x has them also but, done in black thread so I don’t notice them as much. I’d probably do single footed past the 3rd guide next time on a similar rod Quote
KCFinesse Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Colored wraps are one of the easiest ways to make a rod look custom. I like it! By the way if you hit a wall trying to get a new decal- I've started ordering my own rainshadow decals off of decalconnection for $5/ea. The ones from the OEM are a lot more fickle than the DC ones IMO. -Jared Quote
Mbirdsley Posted January 31, 2022 Author Posted January 31, 2022 Batson /rainshadow is mailing me a new rod decal free of charge. That’s nice of them Quote
spoonplugger1 Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Great people, great products, I have yet to use one of their products that was not better than expected. Been using the entire RX6 line, including fly rods for 15 years. 1 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 They 3 day shipped 4 decals too me. I guess I can’t loose that many hahaha. Quote
Alex from GA Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Nice job. I wish my first rod looked as good. I've built several rods with Rainshadow blanks, usually the Immortal series. Very sensitive with a decent price. 1 Quote
RipHair Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Awesome work! I'm nearly finished my first build on a rainshadow but 3pc, will post the results too. 1 Quote
